At any rate, my remarks were not meant to be derisive or insulting towards the Canucks’ play this year. It’s just that I was simply shocked to find no Canucks in any of the “top 5″ categories which they listed here yesterday ? … especially given the recent play of the Sedins and Lunogo ? I maintain that the Stanley Cup was “theirs” for the taking last June … how the Canucks lost game 7 the way they did is still a complete mystery to me ? Now as we head down the home stretch of this season, I’d say that again they’re the team to beat, just like last year. But if they don’t win the cup this time around however, then God help us all here in Vancouver ! … that’s all I’m saying.

16-9 at home, let’s hope they turn this around. With Devils, Sharks, Caps… that’s no small feat.

I see pupsin has already corrected your “alarming” stats. Why don’t you just get off the bandwagon now, because that’s what kind of fan you look like. The Canucks have been one of the best teams for the past dozen years, and each year they have made a run into the playoffs, for the past few years we’ve had some of the top scoring teams, and best goal differentials, best PP, PK, but I guess none of that means nothing because we don’t have the top goal scorer or the best goals against average.

- Points – Sedins have been slumping for roughly the last 5-10 games, baring tonight, yet are at 6th and 8th in points scored. Thats pretty good I think.

- GAA/Save pct – Luongo has been playing very well for the last 3 months. Hasn’t allowed more than 3 goals since the Dec. 1st loss to Nashville. Take away a abysmally week October, and you’d have Luongo in the top 5 or top 7 for both categories.

- Goals Scored – Canucks have 3rd highest total of GF in the league and the 3rd best Goal Differential in the league. They have something called a balanced lineup, with each line being able to chip in on the scoreboard.

- Plus/Minus – You have 2 Canucks with a +21 and 1 with a +20. Individual Plus/Minus stats mean nothing. Goal Differential is a more useful stat.

- Goaltender Wins – Canucks have a actually capable backup goaltender, which cannot be said for the other 5 goalies in the top-5.

Friend … it sure does cause one to wonder, eh ? A quick review of the league’s current “Top 5″ for the following categories, reveals not a single Canuck ? (ie: baring Cori Schneider of course, who comes in at # 5 in the Save Percetage category:

- Points Scored … no Canucks ?
- Goals Against Average … no Canucks ?
- Goals Scored … no Canucks ?
- Goaltender Save Percentage … Schneider at # 5 spot, but where’s Luongo ?
- Plus / Minus … no Canucks ?
- Goaltender Wins … no Canucks ?

I’m not a Canucks fan per se … but if I was, then I’d definitely be troubled by these alarming stats. At an rate, they’d be well served to remember this spring that racking up team points in a weak division during the regular season is completely meaningless, if you can’t seal the deal when it really counts. So I dare say that if the Canucks fail again this coming spring, then whatever riot we had last June is going to look like a picnic, for what’s in store this time around !
