I think Slats believes the team ultimately doesn't have enough scoring punch to win Lord Stanley so he figures why not go for a little extra when you're so close.

Also, this may be as good a window as any for the Rangers to get out of the east into the Stanley Cup finals--the Bruins appear to be going thru a Stanley Cup "hangover", The Flyers are having issues with goaltending and a lack of depth on the blue line. The Pens may still be very tough to overcome with Malkin having a Hart Trophy season, Fluery solid in the net, and the usual good production from a bunch of underrated unsung players. A little extra scoring for the Rangers with their streaking goal scoring ability would help going deep in the playoffs.

I just hope they can get away with not giving up Kreider--I think he's going to be a heck of a player.

Completely agree. Although I think Brad Richards makes more per year, and even he has bought into the system.

if this trade actually happens, Glen Sather will quickly make everyone remember his throw money at it approach that most people forgot up until this year. there is nothing wrong with this team and i can't understand why they wouldn't want to roll the dice thru the play offs with the current roster. he couldn't be that arrogantly stupid.they are above and beyond the best team in the east up to this point.

"The curious part of the Dubinsky rumor is that the Jackets have had a thing for him for some time. He’s also having a down season with just six goals and 25 points. Insert proper Blue Jackets management snark here."

Buy low, I guess?

I'm not sure I understand why NY would want to change anything with their team right now. As a Bruins fan I really hope they do but it seems their chemistry and commitment to one another is incredibly strong. Nash would require a lot in return and disrupt the locker room. He would also become the top paid (I think) player on the team. He is an awesome talent but the size of the contract leaves a lot of unknowns. God forbid he gets hurt or takes a liking to NYC nightlife. I'd pass but hope they do it;)
