There’s really no room for the kids to crack the roster now, is there? Hamilton can probably make it as a #5/6 D now, but this really only leaves Pouliot’s position potentially open in future. Not exactly a lot of room. I guess Chiarelli could trade one of ‘em in the offseason too, if he wants to make room, but still. A little weird for a team with so many promising prospects to basically lock the roster like that.

Depending on price tags. I don’t think they offered these guys fair market value. I think they offered them contract extensions based on a hometown discount. and i’m guessing it was for an additional 2 years. Spooner and knight will get there shots. Just as mcquaid and boychuck did in the past when an injury happens you prove your to good to drop back down and it would force a trade. All this does is get lineup competition back.

They’re definitely in full sleepwalking mode right now and could use a shakeup or an infusion of some new blood. Only the Bergey line is performing up to their ability right now as Krejci has been invisible for a month and their lack of offensive depth has been exposed with the Horton issue and won’t be helped by Peverley’s injury. Don’t have much in trade chips as there’s no way they’d move Rask or Hamilton.
