Garth is in a tough spot. The team is really a year or two away from having all the pieces in the system developed and on the roster to make them a true contender. They are, at best, a bubble team right now. But Isles really need action on an arena this summer and a playoff berth and winning a series or two could help a lot. Giving the team its best chance to do that is more important than getting a few more picks or prospects. In fact, if Isles can surge going into the deadline with say 65 pts, I could see Garth doing some targeted buying. A good top four would be very helpful as well as a good bottom 6 F. We will see.

If Isles make it in, they won’t be limping. They’ll need a .700 winning % to get in…and hot teams often make a lot of noise in the playoffs.

The MTL game wasn’t really his fault. He was a little shaky v FLA, but he’d been playing a bunch of games. He has been very good this year. Dont want to trade him though.

Nabakov has been feast or famine for the Isles. In his last 5 games, Nabakov has allowed 2 goals in 3 wins, but 7 goals in 2 losses.

So, in terms of the Blackhawks, the trade would upgrade their goaltending–but how much would the Isles ask in return?

Aye, trade him. Look, they’re a long shot to even MAKE the playoffs, and Lord knows they’re not going to win the Stanley Cup if they do miraculously limp their way in. They’re a lot of parts short of a Cup-winning roster. Nabakov’s a solid trade chip. Shoot him to Chicago, to Toronto, Tampa, who knows? Someone wants to upgrade their goaltending. And they all have things the Isles would want.

If by “vultured” you mean that Garth Snow acquired a needed talent according to the rules, yes. Isles tried what Wings did with Wade Dubliewicz and CLB claimed him. Several other players were claimed in the same way at the same time as Nabby, Difference is that Dubie and all those other players reported and no one said a word. The hypocrisy about that claim wasnt appealing then. Its even less so now. Nabby has decided he likes playing on the Island. The DET thing is irrelevant.

As a big isles fan I think the playoffs is likely to elude us this year but for the first time it won’t be out of our grasp do not trade nabby he is showing signs of himself from 5-6 years ago I say sign him for two more years that will show u have confidence in him and you believe he can help this team contend and he can play a full year without free agency looming! And yes he has stated he likes the atmosphere and his teammates are a great group of guys young talents and with promise I feel he’s having fun!

Isles need stability in net. If Garth can get Nabby & Al to extend, do it & give Poulin & Nilsson time to develop. That’s worth more than anything Garth can likely get in trade. BTW, for much of the last month, Isles have been 6-2-2 over last 10. If they play at that pace for remaining 26, they’ll make it.

If I were nabokov, I’d get out of that sinking ship. if I were the islanders GM, I’d hire a hit man to take out DiPietro. The islanders need to start over with thier goalies.
