I think if the STL blues end up being in the market before the trade deadline he would take a deal with a winning team , and we already have Russel and Hitch from the them why not him too!

Agree that Krecji would probably be part of any deal. B’s top prospects are all in juniors. If Dougie Hamilton is untouchable, who would they part with and would it be enough.

Actually I forgot that Thomas has the no-trade clause, so that ends that speculation cold. Sorry about that!

However, just because the Jackets got INTO this mess with older vets doesn’t mean they’d change their tune now. They’re pretty focused on making the same mistakes over and over, after all- why change now?

TT s no trade is lifted after the season I dont see it getting done before the deadline but the Krecji angle would be a way to go move seguin to C with Lucic n Nash

I just dont see the match with Boston. They dont have enough elite young prospects to deal to make it work, and are short on picks this year. Maybe Krejci, a prospect and a 1…but I dont know that is enough.

Rask could be a centerpiece but I doubt they will trade him. Im guessing Columbus would start with Rask and Dougie Hamilton as their top choices.

TT has a no trade clause. Why would he waive that to leave a Cup contender for CBJ? As much as it would be great to see Nash in Boston, I believe the price will be too steep. If I was CBJ I would ask for Rask, Hamilton and a #1 draft pick. No way you do that deal if you are Boston.

I’m a bruins die hard but i think it’s Tuukka time now. Trading Timmy is the best way to get a scorer to help with the loss of horton and peverly. Trow in Jordan Caron and a pick should be enough

Can’t see it. Jackets should be looking for nothing but elite YOUNG talent in this deal. They tried rebuilding with older vets. Thats how they got in the mess they are in now.

govt – You may be on to something. Thomas would actually work nicely in Columbus. Ohio is a “purple” state. About 25% Teas, 25% Democrats, and 50% that vote based on how the economy is doing. The Teas would go to see one of their own, the Dems would go to watch him get pummeled with pucks since there’s no defense worth talking about, and the other 50% would go to experience the miracle of a Jackets goalie making a save.

This might sound insane- I do that sometimes- but in Boston… maybe we’re looking at the wrong goalie. Chiarelli has made it clear that Rask is the goalie of the future in Boston… what if he decides that the future is now and moves Thomas? As well as he’s played the past couple of years it would be tough to stomach, but it means his value is through the roof right now.

He’s an older goalie, obviously, but there’s no sign of wearing out in him, and he could provide enough of a presence to allow the Jackets to play a little more open on offense (since they’re not so paranoid about their netminder) and build a new style. By the time Thomas retires, they’ve been able to revitalize the franchise a little, take time to pick up a goalie to replace him via the draft…

…I know, insane, but possible at least.

A goalie may not have been mentioned, but CLB is nuts if they make a trade without a franchise goalie being included–which means all of those teams except Boston and LA are out of the picture. Doubt Boston would part with Rask, so really just LA and they are a lot less appealing without Schenn. PHI is probably the best combination of a contender with a top young goalie (Bob), and an elite skater (either Schenn or Couturier). FLA and STL are also contenders who could offer attractive packages. This will probably not get done by the deadline. It will probably be a draft day move like Pronger.

There’s a pretty sizable difference between “Nash will accept a trade to five teams” and “the Bruins, Kings, Ranger, Sharks or Leafs are five clubs that “are believed to be on the approved list for Nash.”” One is definite, the other is speculation.

I will say i’m not a rangers fan, but from the outside doesn’t a move for nash hurt there team in the long run? no doubt nash is a dynamite superstar. who would improve there team this year. But your giving away a good hard nose player in dubinsky, an elite prospect and at least a 1st and 2nd rounder. Do you mess with the chemistry? Now for the cap scenario, you will lose 3.8 m of cap space for the next many years. Is rick nash 3.8m better then dubinsky? Especially when you have to resign delzotto mcdonough anisimov hagelin and stepan, in the next 2 years. I wouldn’t make this move if I were the GM he already has the making of a potential dynasty with its current young roster.

Dubinsky, Chris Kreider, and a draft pick for Rick Nash and cash ($1.5 Mil per). As a Rangers fan, that would be the only thing that I would agree with. But the blue line is off limits.

Which makes sense if you think about it, because Columbus is so well known for developing young talent and picking the best the draft has to offer. This is why they are in the position they are in. They don’t even comprehend what they do wrong. They are asking for the two things they have f***ed up since day one. As for Tyutin, I can’t believe anyone would want the Russian marshmallow. Softest guy in the NHL. No heart at all. If someone offers a six-pack for Fedorina, CBJ should jump at it. He improves the team just by leaving.
