chara has never played "forward" he's played "stand in front and cause havoc for the goalie". he's not a winger.

brent burns can actually skate, and skate well.

byfuglien was a defenseman and was converted to a forward...now he's a full time d-man.

stu bickel sucks, and matt gilroy was played as a forward at times because he's an awful defenseman.

i don't know why this annoys me so much, but people who read prohockeytalk should know that roman hamrlik will never, EVER, play a shift as a forward in the NHL.

roman hamrlik is quite possibly the slowest skater in the NHL besides hal gill, and you think it's possible he'd be playing on a line as a forward, which he's never done in his career, on a team desperately trying to win games to make the playoffs? that is the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

Because I LOVE to watch them struggle!!!!
They just suck so bad!!!
It must be nice to be a fan of teams that win nothing.
When was the last time the 'Skins have won anything?
Or the Bullets/Wiz? Or the Gnats?
Or the Caps?
'91 for the Foreskins and then 1978 For the Bullets!!!
And then neither for the last 2 crap franchises
Yeah DC sucks

The Caps need to make a return to their offensive style of play from a few years ago thatade them do exciting. I was one of the fans that said I'd trade a few goals for better defense. But this experiment has kill their offense and the team spirit!!!

Also, why is it that tribesofneurot is always trolling on Caps post?? Get a life you also-ran!!!

it was just a guess based on what was reported. could happen, might not. wouldnt be too far-fetched though. why would you waste a much needed practice by skating him with other forwards on a 2nd line if you didnt plan to employ it at some point? but then again hunter has me shaking my head quite often these days anyway...

I am sure Knuble is chomping at the bit to get off that sinking ship.
To be traded to some team that is actually a contender and not a PRETENDER.

Chara is sometimes a forward on the PP to stay in front of goalies or was back in the day.

Brent Burns in Minn I believe had some time as a rw when they couldn't score last year.

Stu Bickel for the Rangers this year for the past three games playing close to 5 mins.

Matt Gilroy last year and as govt said Big Buff.

It's unlikely but not unheard of.

Well, let's be fair- it wouldn't be the first time a defenseman has moved to forward for a little while (Byfuglien?). And certainly Hunter couldn't be faulted for trying something to shake things up a little, though this wouldn't be my first choice. Anything is possible- maybe we really will see Hamrlik up front at some point soon. Stranger things have happened in Washington this year.

dude i see you commenting on here a lot, so you must know SOME hockey. do you REALLY think that roman hamrlik is going to see any shifts as a forward? this is most likely due to the fact some of the forwards weren't skating today, and we have an extra defenseman. come on dude.

does that mean green is going to be coming back? if hamrlik is skating as a forward with laich and knuble, that opens a slot on the blue line without having to scratch anyone and aucoin going down will bring knuble back on too. i think the line shuffling/roster juggling is desperation by hunter/management. the system aint working and the goaltending aint helping. all the roster moves makes it harder to get in sync and gain chemistry in a new system, i'm no gm but i would think gaining some kind of consistency gives you something to work off of. you cant go in to practice everyday wondering who you're playing with today and expect to make positive strides.
