Let’s not forget the fact that the Kings might not even be leaving Sacremento, which would make the whole thing moot. The guy isn’t going to build the arena if he’s not going to get his NBA franchise.

They deserve an NBA team, it wasn’t lack of fan support that drove the Sonics out. No idea how popular hockey really is there, but making sure the building is NHL-ready can’t hurt.

I don’t remember where I read it but apparently the team they are after is the Sacramento Kings. However, the owner of the Ducks is also part of some group in some way to bring the same team to Anaheim and play at the Honda Center. Could make their NBA dream a tougher one.

One of the points that James missed is that, according to that study, there isn’t room for both an NHL and NBA team in Seattle.

The study indicates that Seattle has 38.5 Billion in available income, which takes into account the MLB and NFL present in the area. However, it doesn’t account for the 34.2 Billion that is required to host an NBA team.

With an NBA team in Seattle, there would be about 4.3 billion left over for an NHL franchise. According to that study, that would put Seattle 50th in the list, well behind any Canadian cities.

IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD’S FAIR !

I’ve got a serious feeling that this will come together … and “praise be” for that I say, as it’s absolutely scandalous that this excellent city doesn’t have both an NBA and NHL team right now ! Seattle is a terrific city which will support both franchises to no end. Hopefully comrade Bettman will now finally wake up to smell the coffee and do that which needs to be done ! Yes, the fans in Phoenix are going to be hurt … no doubt about it. But their pain is necessary in-order for the fans of Seattle to experience joy …

If they don’t get an NBA team then an NHL team makes perfect sense, but don’t kid yourself, they’re building this arena for a basketball team first & a hockey team second
