Milbury, Jones indulge in some trade talk

Feb 15, 2012, 8:45 PM EDT

Keith Jones and Mike Milbury went in-depth on the wisdom of trading the likes of Rick Nash, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter today. Perhaps the most interesting discussion is at the end, as the two debate the merits of the New York Islanders moving Evgeni Nabokov:

As an Islanders fan, its pretty hard to listen to any BS Milbury has to say

Actually, it might benefit the Isles in the long run if they get rid of Nabby. The guy’s 36 and clearly didn’t want to play with the Islanders when they picked him up initially. Chances are he’ll be around for 5 years tops but I don’t think he intended to come back to the NHL to finish out his career with the Islanders (no offense). Why not trade him for some prospects or draft picks and have a better shot at ensuring some long term success? Pick up a top 4 d man and a draft pick to go along with that quickly improving offense. Strome and de Haan will be up soon too. The future is bright for the Islanders. Sadly it may not be in Long Island for much longer.

I’m shocked they haven’t traded Nabakov as of yet… I guess they are holding out for something, but with Dipietro signed though the apocalypse, NYI can’t afford to keep all of these goalies (especially when Montoya seems to be the best option).
