Report: Nash has given the Jackets a list of teams he’d accept a trade to

Feb 14, 2012, 4:28 PM EDT

Just to add to the raging Rick Nash trade speculation, here’s a tweet by Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreossource:

(In case you’re wondering, n/m stands for “no-movement)

When asked this morning about the trade rumblings, Nash would only say, “I’m a Blue Jacket right now. I’ve played my whole career here and it’s a special place to me. So as of right now I’m a Blue Jacket.”

But for how long? If the Kypreos tweet is accurate, Nash is seriously considering life beyond Columbus.

    Rangers, Flyers, Penguins…Kings…Leafs?

    • changingipaddyishardstuff - Feb 14, 2012 at 4:36 PM

      Pens can’t afford him

      • psujay - Feb 14, 2012 at 4:42 PM

This was a list of teams he’d play for, not teams who can afford him…and you can afford anyone if you have to, you just have to include salary in return.

      • changingipaddyishardstuff - Feb 14, 2012 at 4:48 PM

ya, i just figure Nash wouldn’t bother since the Pens are not going make an offer and can’t afford him, they do not have the ability as you say to “afford anyone…just including salary in return”
Adding 7 million per season to the Pens would have too many repercussions

James Neal and Staal will need to be paid soon.

How has no one mentioned the best link of the day?

        http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2012/2/13/2796284/pittsburgh-penguins-fans-bandwagon-twitter

Way to call your own fans bandwagoners, Penguins. That’s pure gold.

  2. changingipaddyishardstuff - Feb 14, 2012 at 4:34 PM

    NYR, Detroit, Toronto

    That is all

    • changingipaddyishardstuff - Feb 14, 2012 at 4:44 PM

      Oh ya, the Kings

  3. changingipaddyishardstuff - Feb 14, 2012 at 4:51 PM

And I have no doubt Howson is going to make a bad trade again

Im still trying to figure out how he got and kept this job, the guy was never qualified in the 1st place for a GM position of a NHL club.

    • east96st - Feb 14, 2012 at 7:34 PM

Because the guy who hired him, CBJ President Mike Priest, was the owner’s stockbroker. Absolute ZERO NHL experience. Not one day in the League and made President. But, according to the owner, the problem is strictly with the guys “on the ice”. Because, you know, the guys who drafted and traded for the guys on the ice and negotiated their contracts can’t possibly be part of the problem. Good luck, Rick. Must feel nice to know that ANYWHERE you go will be a huge upgrade. I already told my rep no more tickets for me. Pointless supporting a team that is owned and run by men who are total jackasses.

Too bad a talent like this couldn’t come to SJ

  5. brockohol - Feb 14, 2012 at 5:19 PM

“too bad a talent like this can’t come to SJ”????? you have had multiple talents like this the past 10 yrs and done nothing with it.

if the blues sale goes through sooner than expected they could also be in the mix. shutouts every other game are great but eventually scoring more than 2 goals a game is going to be an issue

  6. knicks4life - Feb 14, 2012 at 5:20 PM

    Islanders

        Colorado Rockies!

As an NYR, fan we get Nash we have a bonafide shot, considering our strong D and King Henrik – we’re a sniper away from a nice run in May. Tricky with the limited cap space.

  9. jagrbomb18 - Feb 14, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Kangaroo…how would you know if you’re a sniper a way from the finals you guys haven’t been out of the first round in how long?

  10. crazemastercraze - Feb 14, 2012 at 7:29 PM

St.Louis seems like the best fit for so many reasons. they can afford him and have the assets to move to get him. Why would the BJ’s want anything other than HIGH draft picks and prospects? i mean, i know the management there are a bunch of numb skulls, but they couldn’t possibly pull a move like Atlanta did with Kovi…….could they?????

I keep getting the feeling that Nash is going to be a rental for the flyers. I love Nash, don’t get me wrong. Put Nash with jägr and giroux who knows what he does, playing with those two has turned hartsy into a legit all star.

I’d rather see schenn or Hal Gil for the flyers. I just can’t help but also see a Jvr plus picks for nash happening

    • psujay - Feb 14, 2012 at 9:44 PM

A rental with an 8 year contract?

    • spezzabangsmilfs - Feb 14, 2012 at 9:49 PM

      rental…..wait what?

  12. zestypickles - Feb 14, 2012 at 8:15 PM

    HOCKEYTOWN, USA

  13. ju8686 - Feb 14, 2012 at 9:40 PM

It would be great to see what Giroux could do with a legit goal scorer … I don’t think Columbus would take just JVR considering what the Flyers did to them in the Carter trade. I’d guess it would take at least JVR Plus either Schenn or Couturier AND picks, possibly another prospect. Even with all that they’d still have cap issues next season … unless the owners get the amnesty and they can drop Bryz or Briere

    • psujay - Feb 14, 2012 at 9:47 PM

Pretty sure the Jackets would want that backup goalie of yours. Bobrovsky is a legit #1 in the NHL, CBJ would be idiotic not to demand him as well. Then again, it’s CBJ.

  14. bigtganks - Feb 15, 2012 at 2:03 AM

    Nash for Schneider. Done.

  15. cup0pizza - Feb 15, 2012 at 3:38 AM

He’ll be a Star. Dallas Star.

  16. fleurysteeth - Feb 15, 2012 at 8:18 AM

It was clearly a very short list. One team to be exact. The greatest franchise in the world. Peeeeenguin. Nash wants to fly under the SoupCan Flag and win some championships for once. Pringles Can Geno would show him the light.
