Phil Kessel is easily intimidated, concludes anonymous group of players with fewer goals than Kessel

Sports Illustrated released its latest incendiary player poll today. In January, SI asked for the most overrated player in the NHL and Dion Phaneuf’s name topped the list, subsequently infuriating Leafs GM Brian Burke. This time it’s the easiest all-star type to intimidate.

The results?

Phil Kessel, Maple Leafs RW 15%

The Sedin Twins, Canucks F’s 8%

Alexander Semin, Capitals LW 7%

Patrick Kane, Blackhawks C 3%

Ilya Kovalchuk, Devils LW 3%

In a related story, Burke just kicked another hole in the wall.

Anyway, the results are hardly surprising. And now we play the waiting game before finding out what the players, their teammates and coaches say about the poll.

It’s the circle of life.

It should also be noted that Luongo received a vote. Hahahaha.

Surprised there were not any Canadiens on the list…or maybe they were listed as a team and split the individual votes

If Kessel and the Sedins are so easy to intimidate then why are they all in the top 10 for points? Burkie is right, these anonymous polls are laughable.

Kovalchuk? I don’t think so. This poll is lame at best.

SI can’t even spell Henrik’s name correctly. Stick with lame US college sports please.

Aw, how cute. A bunch of players who’ve never won a scoring title running their mouths about players who have or seem to have one coming in future.

Hey, kids? As long as you’re being such badasses, calling out your betters, maybe you shouldn’t hide behind anonymity while you’re doing it. Man up.

    Four straight 30 goal seasons.

So, if these players are so easily intimidated then why aren’t the respondents to the poll shutting them down? Maybe they’re a bunch of backwoods pluggers who don’t have much talent and even less intelligence. I guess we’ll never know because the poll is anonymous. Shame on SI for this kind of yellow journalism. But what can you expect from a sports magazine that once a year shamelessly turns itself into a softcore porn rag.

When Phil Kessel skates away from aforementioned ‘anonymous’ group of inferior players in order to find himself in the perfect scoring position for a goal (which he has done countless times this season), makes said inferior players believe he is easily intimidated, so be it. They will always have their belief, and Phil will continue to pile on the goals.

Funny what players will spew about others who make them look foolish out on the ice on a consistent basis.

Lastly, If one thing has been proven time and again; it is that Sports Illustrated (with the exception of a single sports editor – who shall remain nameless), knows zero, zilch, about the game of Hockey.
