There is a provision to extend the current CBA one more year, which was built in when this deal was signed. That might be likely if there’s any serious roadblocks that come up right away, but the two sides really need to figure this out and the NHL would be well served to not let the Phoenix situation distract them.

Like many of you, I’ve also harbored resentment against Bettman for years. But in recent times, I’ve come to realize that this man actually means well and that “his” is not any easy struggle. I’m now therefore convinced that he “will” prevail over this communist Fehr and that all will be well when the dust finally settles !

2 lockouts on his watch and I haven’t seen or heard anything yet that makes me think there won’t be a 3rd. Why exactly does this weasel still have a job?

Bettmans probally more worried about what the deal with Phoenix will be next season instead of actually having hockey next season. Goodell and Stern both said somthing similar and both were involved in lockouts. And last time I checked, your CBA negotiating led to a lockout. Cmon BettMAN!

Nothing better than ruining the good momentum the league has by a good old fashioned lock out. Hey who the hell cares about the fans? Not like we suffered last time around with no hockey for a year.
