still leaves the caps without a real puck moving defenseman. green is the offensive equivalent to guys like letang, campbell, streit, karlsson and these days every team needs a guy that can move the pp and accelerate the breakout. i wouldnt put wideman in that category even though i like his game.

While I'm glad he's coming along in his recovery, it feels like he gets back on the ice for a few games and then gets hurt again- he's been off the ice more than on the past couple of years. I'm not exactly optimistic that he'll make it through the rest of the season.

...really, McPhee has Wideman now, so if he decided to put Green up on the trade block it isn't the worst move. Injury problems would diminish his value, but it might be worth seeing what interest other teams have in him at least.

Hamrlik has been playing with Orlov a lot lately, i doubt that will change. Erskine will get the healthy scratches and Schultz should be traded. More like

Wideman/Alzner
Green/Carlson
Orlov/Hamrlik

But you never know, Dale Hunter does like to mix it up. I mean he broke up Alzner/Carlson for whatever reason in the first place...

Hamrlik should but it will be the Erskine/Shultz combo who gets pulled. Caps need puck moving defense to score goals.

who will get bumped? orlov? he is playing pretty well. erskine is the obvious choice but then you sacrifice a big bodied, intimidating, tough guy for a sissy and equal defensive liability in green. green can score but he makes the highlight reel just as often by getting scored on
