I think the core is the biggest problem. The Hawks don’t stink because Mayers, Frolik, Bickell, Scott and O’Donnell stink. They stink because Kane, Keith, Hossa, Toews, Seabrook and Sharp stink (or have stunk during this skid). The stars are the ones that literally refuse to block a shot or take the body. The only guy that plays a physical brand of hockey among the forwards is Andrew Shaw.

Little Bowman is also confident in Crawford and Emery, so…yep. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.

You can’t coach talent… but a coach can most certainly implement strategies that lead his team to good scoring chances. A coach’s job includes figuring out what kind of talent he has and installing a style of play that enables his team to play to the best of its ability. So, actually, offense is something that can be coached, just like defense… you don’t emphasize play in one end of the ice and hope the other works itself out.

Also, how is the team’s defense not Quenneville’s fault if team defense is a coaching issue? I’m kind of scratching my head over that one.

What you call “talented” I call 2 lines deep with no 3rd or 4th line worth mentioning, with a defense that is 3 deep at best. Also a “top” player like Kane (overated) is nearly as useless as Roy or Semin without the puck. With a 2nd year questionable goalie.

Not that talented as a group

Come playoff time how are the Blackhawks 3rd and 4th supposed to deal with what the Wings, Bruins and Canucks are putting out as their 3′s and 4′s?

Quenneville’s time is up. He’s a great coach, and this slide is not his fault, but he has moved around quite a bit for a reason. Don’t forget, this talented team barely made the playoffs last year. They are better than that. The players need a new voice.

Offense is alot about individual talent, whereas team defense is coached. This team can’t keep the pucks out of their net, and that’s coaching. Its not a goaltending issue. Teams like Phoenix, Nashville and few others are winning more with less talent than Chicago.

Also, then the nucks can hire Quenn and win the cup.
