The truth is that I just don’t think they’re that good anymore. I mean, obviously this losing streak is a fluke but I really don’t think they’re more than a middle of the pack team anymore. Toews is a great player. Keith is a great player. Hossa, Sharp and Seabrook are all very good players. After that though it really drops off. Kane has always been overrated. (If they were smart they’d have moved him after winning the cup and kept a couple other guys.) Bolland is an excellent 3rd line centre but not so much a 2nd line one. Hjalmarsson looked promising as a bottom pairing guy but has totally totally failed to step up as a top four guy. Crawford just isn’t there yet. Compare that to when they won the cup. Back then, they didn’t just have a few great players. They also had outstanding depth. I mean for goodness sake, they had Ladd and Versteeg playing on their third line. They don’t anymore though. They’ve lost those two, plus Brouwer and Byfuglein. Campbell was grossly over payed but he was still a big asset. Sopel was actually pretty good for a third pairing defenseman too. Then of course there’s Niemi. Not a great goaltender but a damned consistent one. And who have they replaced them with? Stalberg? Montador? Emery? Come on.

Couldn’t agree more Holley…Q’s coaching credentials speak for themselves. With the assembled talent on this team, it’s time for the veterans to step up and show some leadership. Q doesn’t play the points or put pucks in the net. These guys need to step up their game and stop the bleeding. If it doesn’t happen…shake the team up and hit the restart button before the playoffs slip away!

Firing quen would be a big mistake. Just a few years off a championship he has proved he can coach his guys up. What they need is men who will sacrifice their bodies to play all out d. The odd man rushes they give up are redic. I’m also in the minority but I still think Kane belongs in Chicago.

Trade one of Kane or Seabrook to wake the rest of them up, before ever firing Quenneville. Otherwise stick with what you have and find a new goalie in the off-season.
