Talk amongst yourselves: Rangers edge Capitals 3-2

Feb 12, 2012, 3:00 PM EDT

The comments section is open. Go say what you think. No big whoop.

We’ll give you some topics:

—- Would you make Henrik Lundqvist your pick for MVP?

—-Did anyone see Alex Ovechkin out there today? Anywhere? Bueller? Bueller?

—- Ryan Callahan is living up to the billing as one of the better captains in the league, wouldn’t you say?

—- How lucky is Ryan McDonagh for not being hurt after scoring his goal?

—- The Capitals fail yet again to jump ahead of the Florida Panthers in an unseemly race in the Southeast Division.

Now go, talk amongst yourselves.

I’m pleased with the Caps performance today. We showed up and didn’t get embarrassed on national TV. It shows that when we get to the playoffs we’ll have a shot to win a few series, and we’re not a team that the top-tier teams will look forward to having to beat 4 times.

The feature on Chimera was cool. He made a good point about the teams that have to fight to get in. I’m 100% okay with his type of player being the face of our franchise rather than Ovechkin or Semin.

Wow, once a team with Stanley Cups aspirations has fans content with not being embarrassed on TV.

As a fellow Caps fan i am NOT pleased with this performance. Simple put, our defense looked shaky, again. Neuvirth played pretty well only letting 3 goals in, the first be unstoppable by any standards. But Ovie was a non factor, Orlov played quite poor, and Joel Ward again didn’t look worth 1/10 the money we gave him. Hell he is barely playing he has been so bad. Green and Backstrom coming back sure helps, but Green is not a great defenseman. His best contributions are on the power play. Backstroms our key player, out 15 games and still leads the team in points. Problem is, when these guys come back, how far out of the playoffs are we? And have you seen our schedule? Brutal…

They aren’t making the playoffs. So enjoy watching the loses pile up.
They aren’t called the Crapitals for nothing.
Oh yeah,Where was the “great” Ovechkin? That’s right,he was dreaming of hanging out with pasty white dudes on the beach.
Here’s to the Craps not making the post season!!! And if they do,here’s to watching them get bounced in the first round!!!

The Rangers are such a deep and balanced team, it seemed that Gaborik and Richards were quiter today but they have enough depth to overcome quiet games from those guys. Not a fan of either team but it was a fun game to watch the Rangers are hard not to like.

Gabbys transformation from last season to this season. Wow. Completely different guy

  4. bruins33 - Feb 12, 2012 at 3:44 PM

bruins are the best, all other teams are irrelevant. There will be no stopping them once the playoffs start and everyone knows it.

    • govtminion - Feb 12, 2012 at 4:16 PM

From a fellow Bruins fan… knock it off, dude. Trolling like that only makes you look ridiculous.

      • bruins33 - Feb 12, 2012 at 4:35 PM

I’m not sure you’re a fellow bruins fan, but I briefly backed up my argument a couple comments down if you’re interested in why I think this.

    • yettyskills - Feb 12, 2012 at 5:15 PM

Red Wings sitting with Home-Ice advantage currently laughs in your general direction.

Geez, you win it once in 40 years and suddenly you think the Bruins are the RedWings or something. Listen to you buddy, bighead. Rangers have matched up with everyone this year – and two words – King Henrik!

  5. hanktheking - Feb 12, 2012 at 3:52 PM

The standings currently say the Bruins are the second best. The last time they played NY, they lost. We’ll see what happens on Tuesday, but as it stands, the Bruins are the second best, The Rangers are the best.

As for today’s game, I thought the Dubinsky-Boyle-Prust line played great. The commentators were talking about picking up Jeff Carter, which I don’t think they should do for what the Jackets would want. Leave the chemistry that this team has alone, at most go after a Ryan Smyth grinder/leader type.

The rangers are a very good team. They remind me very much of those Devil teams 95 -2004 putting together cup runs. Now can tortorella keep from becoming overbearing and ineffective. He is a hardnosed coach who after a time wears on the players and they tend to shut him out.

  7. bruins33 - Feb 12, 2012 at 4:28 PM

Standings don’t mean anything. Bruins have the most well rounded defense that, when firing on all cylinders, is unbeatable. We have two of the best goalies in the league, and we have the most well rounded 4 lines of forwards in the NHL. Our forwards will wear out and out grind any defense. And if you have a problem with any of this Adam Mcquaid, Shawn Thornton, and every other Bruin are always more then willing to settle a difference.
Rangers are looking good, but they can’t keep up with the B’s and they know it. Definitely looking forward to Tuesdays game though it should be a good one.

    • yettyskills - Feb 12, 2012 at 5:16 PM

Blah Blah Blah, the Wings would have no problem matching up with the Bruins with 4 of 7 games in Detroit.

  8. mrskunitzdrippinlips - Feb 12, 2012 at 4:57 PM

both teams are trash. wait until the penguins are healthy then they will shut everyone of u up

    • hanktheking - Feb 12, 2012 at 8:09 PM

The Pens can’t be allowing 5 goals to the Jets and call themselves the best. You think they are going to put up 8 on Boston or NY? Your high.

  9. trbowman - Feb 12, 2012 at 6:04 PM

Rags have to be one of the favorites to kiss the Cup this year. I am impressed every time I watch them.

  10. tribesofneurot - Feb 12, 2012 at 6:49 PM

Most Boston fans are some of the worst of all sports fans.
I hope the Bruins get ran out in the first round.
    That would be wicked awesome.

a couple shots dont hit the posts and the craps could have won this game, just shows how good teams find ways to win and bad teams find ways to lose.
