Hey ya know who was a “big name” that caused a huge splash and raised a lot of eyebrows when the Stars signed him?

That didn’t work out very well did it Hullie?

I agree with imacdane.. If Hull had done his job better when he was a co-GM, the Stars wouldn’t be faced with the prospect of a fourth straight non-playoff season.

Tim Thomas and Chara are NOT “Super-stars” get the proverbial grip. I know they are great players but “Super-star” give me a break.

If they are Super-stars what are Malkin, Crosby, the Sedins and Stamkos? Super Duper Ultra Superstars?

Look, if you win the Norris, you’re a star. Chara’s one of the top three or four defensemen in the League at any given time. Bergeron’s on the bubble too as one of the frontrunners for the Selke, but “superstar”… eh, maybe not quite.

Seguin’s not there yet, though. He’s well on his way, I’ll agree with you there.

Anyway. Dallas. Jamie Benn is getting there pretty quickly. Next year could be explosive. This year’s been pretty stellar already what with the All-Star nab. Lehtonen? No. He’s good, top-fifteen and with practice even top ten, but even then… man, only the top three to five are going to be “superstars.” Lundqvist, Thomas, Rinne, Howard and Quick on the bubble… wouldn’t name anyone else in that category. And what about former All-Star Eriksson?

Overall, Brett’s got a point – thing is, there are a couple of guys who could absolutely blow up with better linemates, but they don’t have ‘em. Guys like Benn and Eriksson would be amazing on top-tier teams like the Wings, Rangers, ‘Hawks or Canucks, but there’s only so much they can do on the Stars.

Timmy proved superstar status with his phenomenal run during all of last season and the playoffs, and this year Tyler Seguin is emerging as an elite player with superstar capabilities. You could also make the argument for Chara, although you don’t generally see defensman being called superstars unless your last name is Orr. They don’t quite have what the general idea of a superstar is, but they do have one of the best goalies, defenseman, and emerging young stars in the game. More than alot of teams can say
