Ive been saying this since day one, this was a disaster in the making, i have huge faith in bobs and he should be starting every game becuz hes a phenomenal talent and the skys the limit and has proved his worth nearly every game.. bob has a chance to be an elite goalie, but you cant expect a starting goalie of bobs caliber to grow and mature while sitting on the bench watching a guy who got 9 yrs 51 mil give up weak goal after weak goal.. ive been told your crazy but bob continually backs me up, of course he had the one bad game vs the devils but what do you expect its hard to stay sharp from the bench.. lavy knows this but he is forced to play professor swiss cheese due to the large pathetic investment in him.. if not with the flyers bob will make some team extremely happy and homer will be kicking himself in the head.. just wait

pretty sure mr. snider will do everything in his power to get the buyout clause. and you have to use it on bryz you get rid of the higher cap hit for more years whereas you can just hide pronger on LTIR for the remainder of his contract.

Sorry fellas Philly is stuck with him..Bryz has a NMC which means you cant waive him, cant trade him, or send him down. Flyers best bet is if/when the new CBA is signed there is a buyout option for one player which happened when last CBA was signed. Even at that, do you want to use that on Pronger or Bryz?

There was no evidence to suggest that he wouldn’t be, at worst, average. He hasn’t even been average this year.. I’ve been the biggest Bryz supporter, and just figured if you gave him time, he would sort it out. I was completely wrong, and you’re absolutely right… nobody wants that contract now.

yeah Bryzgalov has sucked so far this year and he didn’t play well on sunday, but isn’t it much more likely that a leader like Timonen would compliment one of the best goalies in the NHL before he purposely called out his own?

He said “The Goalie” and everyone is jumping saying that Kimmo is calling out Bryz and saying he sucks. Quit trying to cause drama in the Flyers Locker Room. That’s why we traded Richards and Carter.

Because while Lundqvist has been great, against the Flyers and against everyone else, Bryz hasn’t even been good. In a 30 team league, your franchise goalie shouldn’t be outside the top 40 in save percentage.

More anecdotally, did you see Gaborik’s goal? Letting in a soft goal is never good, but doing it in the last five seconds of a period is killer. And then later, in the third period, he gave up another goal, the eventual GWG, about 30 seconds after the Flyers had tied the game. In a sport where so much is dependent on momentum, Bryzgalov has consistently come up small in big moments this season.

Why is this a negative comment on Bryz and not a positive one on Lundqvist? He is arguably the most consistently dominant goalie in the NHL. The difference between the Rangers and almost any team is the Goalie. Very few teams have a goalie of Henrik’s caliber. I think it was a comment on the Flyers inability to score on him all year, more than a comment on Bryz.

Maybe Philly needs a new goalie coach? Look at how good Bryz did in Phoenix and how Mike Smith has turned his game around there. There are many examples where a good goalie coach can drastically change how a goalie plays (ex. brian elliott)

I’ve been a Bryz supporter from the beginning and had a lot of faith in him. Yes, that faith has drastically diminished, but I still don’t single handled blame Bryz for 100% of the problems. Our game play has been terrible. Instead of playing simple hockey, we’re getting fancy on plays where we shouldn’t and are leading to numerous bad turnovers and penalties.

Bryz obviously needs all the confidence he can get, and for Kimmo Timonen to “pass the puck” of blame over to Bryz 100% is not good across the board. Kimmo should have a talk with Carle and Bourdon about their passing and defensive game too.

All will be forgiven if he gets hot in the playoffs. I’m not quite ready to give up on a 9 year commitment after four months.

It’s funny though, everyone seems to think were stuck with him, hearing a lot of chirping from Ranger fans. Are we really stuck with him, cap-wise? Tell me, what’s Wade Redden up to?

Welp. I’ve been saying it all season – in private, the Flyers cannot be fond of Bryz. Between his stupendous implosion in net and his endless attempts to be the comedian in public, he probably pisses a lot of people off. If a guy is the centre of attention and a great player, that’s one thing. If he’s the centre of attention and he SUCKS, however, he wears on the team’s patience. Jagr’s never been fond, that much is clear – and given how hugely supportive he is of Giroux and Hartsy, it’s clear it’s pretty much specifically about Bryz. Now for the leader of the team (with Pronger out) to straight-up say that, that pretty much says it all – the players are at the end of their rope with Bryzgalov, and it’s impossible to blame them for it. He’s going to kill them in the playoffs, no matter how great anyone else on the team plays, and come this summer… oh, Jesus, I would not want to be Holmgren. He made so many brilliant moves in the forward stock in the offseason… how did he not even bother scouting this guy seriously before deciding to pay him for the rest of eternity?

where do you expect him to go? he just got a pretty hefty contract in the offseason. Its not like he’s a player who is easily shipped out of town. Philly is stuck with him. Love there other organizational moves getting younger hungrier and more skilled, but should have scouted bryz as a person a little bit more.

Timonen’s correct. Bryz is horrible and needs to go. He’s damaged goods now. He’s mentally lost whatever he “had” in Arizona. Time to start from scratch again.

I could see this being a problem if Bryz was even a little bit crazy, but I think we all saw during 24/7 that he’s completely sane and rational all the time. I’m sure there’s no way this shatters whatever feeble confidence Bryz has been able to build up the last few weeks.

It’s sad, because Kimmo did this last year too when he basically said that he wasn’t confident in Bob’s stickhandling abilities and wanted Boucher back there. For a guy as calm and mild-mannered as he usually is, I wouldn’t expect him to be pointing fingers like that.

More fuel to the fire. Timonen has to remember that the defence didn’t help out either. It was Bryz taking 2 penalties in the first 2:15 of the game. Or turning the puck over in his own zone.
