Crosby returns to Penguins practice

Feb 6, 2012, 12:02 PM EDT

Big development out of Montreal this morning during Penguins practice: Sidney Crosby skated with the team without a non-contact jersey, playing right wing on a line with Steve Sullivan and Cal O’Reilly.

Crosby was on the line replacing Tyler Kennedy, who left Sunday’s 5-2 loss in New Jersey with what’s believed to be a foot and/or ankle injury.

More, from Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

(Just to stoke the fire a little more: Crosby and fellow injured center Jordan Staal practiced on the second power-play unit with O’Reilly, Paul Martin and Matt Cooke.)

Sportsnet’s Louis Jean notes this is Crosby’s first official practice since his latest setback and while the club said there’ no timetable for his return to games this week, seeing No. 87 return to practice is an intriguing development.

The Montreal game is the last of Pittsburgh’s current four-game road trip — the Penguins will have four days off before their next game, a home date against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.

Interesting. He could just be filling in for Kennedy because of the injury and can’t get additional ice time to skate before or after the rest of the team. Hopefully it means he’s cleared for full practice, though.

I’m licking my chops at the thought of Crosbaby being slammed into the boards ending her career. Hurry back Cindy!

    • tk1966 - Feb 6, 2012 at 12:45 PM

      1. “Crosbaby” – old
      2. “her” – been used to death
      3. “Cindy” – used by nearly EVERY negative poster

      That’s a big 0’fer, son

C’mon back and try again when you come up with something new. By using the same old tired rhetoric you are doing nothing but embarrassing yourself.

      • hockeyfan1701 - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:11 PM

sjsharksfan11 posts stupid things every time Crosby names comes up. The little boy has a big case of jealously.

    • crosbysthebest - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:34 PM

Thats cause san Jose sucks. good God, really idiot? That needs to happen to you.
You ate talking about the best player ever in NHL history. what an idiot

      • doomtooth - Feb 6, 2012 at 4:10 PM

Best player ever in NHL history? I tried reading this comment a few times, hoping to realize you were being ironic or satirical…clearly you were not.

Wayne Gretzky will always be better than Crosby, and I’m not even sold that he was the best player in NHL history. You sir—though I assume you are about 14 and in remedial classes—are ignorant when i comes to hockey. Period.

  4. finfan88shark - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:14 PM

The only one more happy about this then Mike Halford (Who would not have a job without Crosby), is Pierre McGwire, who can now change the wittlebabies diaper in between periods of games.

  5. broadstbully33 - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:24 PM

Mike you must be dealt advancing in you career, but what happens when cindy retires who will you write about? i mean you have nothing better to write about c’mon man a life

    • icedog97 - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:26 PM

Couldn’t the same be said for you? It would seem that you too won’t have anything to post about if Crosby retires…right?

Sidney Crosby back! He is a potent threat to every team he doesn’t play for is why he sadly will remain a prime hit target during games. Its a privilege to watch his game. Stahls are fabulous too. Love Fluery’s supreme skill set.- I just want Crosby to play again.

  10. mrskunitzdrippinlips - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:46 PM

he is a potent threat to every womens fur box

  11. hystoracle - Feb 6, 2012 at 1:51 PM

What’s the over/under on the # of games before “concussion-like symptoms” reappear? Last time it was what 3… and he initiated the contact. I’ll give him 5 games this time.

  12. bizzarobrian - Feb 6, 2012 at 2:23 PM

Who gives a flyin f**k? Tired of hearing about the guy! The league has lots of great players. The more you guys write stories about him the more pressure you`re putting on him to return.

  13. eagleswineagleswin - Feb 6, 2012 at 2:46 PM

hears to a Flyers giving him a head shot to finally end his career. He’s a punk

    • fishtacos4me - Feb 6, 2012 at 4:53 PM

Crosby needs to take a face shot too.

  14. wicky888 - Feb 6, 2012 at 3:03 PM

I dislike Crosby for all of his whining and babyish nonsense. However, if he gets another concussion, he should seriously pack it in. The last “contact” that put him out was nothing, and hes gonna serioulsy hurt himself.

  15. mjf63 - Feb 6, 2012 at 3:06 PM

I don’t hate Crosby as much as I used to, primarily because he hasn’t played in a while. But it may be in the NHL’s best interests to let him retire and stop pushing him to come back. If Crosby was just another mucker and grinder The NHL would not be licking their chops at the notion of him coming back. Thinking of $$ instead of Crosby’s skull. The guy is hurt and yes, he’s pretty much a china doll at this point. And you guys want to see him play in the SCP’s? The first time he attempts to throw a check he’ll get creamed and there goes you coveted Sidney Crosby, for good. He as fragile as a cracked egg.

If the NHL cared at all about the welfare of Sidney Crosby, they’d suggest retirement to him. You guys know this as well as I do.

    • back2backbees - Feb 6, 2012 at 3:28 PM

nobody wants to see another Marc Savard/Eric Lindros

  16. 11cups - Feb 6, 2012 at 6:17 PM

What ever he comes back to be, he’ll always be a big candy assss for this seasons shenanigans.

  17. 11cups - Feb 6, 2012 at 6:19 PM

I have a huge development in my pants, and it has nothing to do with cindy or hockey.
