Ummmm the difference is that the Devils are going bankrupt while the Flyers are one of the highest grossing teams in the league. Oh and Danny's worth every penny come playoff time

Well we can argue all day if the money the Devils pay Kovalchuck is helping the team into a possible bankrupcy. However, the cap hit is not what they are actually paying him every year. This season he only makes $6 million, but next year hes slated to make $11 million... so hes actually going to be making nearly double what Briere is. Also, even though Kovalchuk is on an "incredible" hot streak (its really just a three game hot streak) hes still only on a point a game pace... and thats with 9 points in the last three games. Throw in a 60 point seasons last year and hes not really living up to the pile of cash the Devils are giving him.

And finally, what does any of that have to do with Briere being hurt? It ALWAYS sucks to have a top player sitting out with an injury... no matter how much they are making. I don't really know what that has to do with someone saying the Devils biggest money sink shouldn't be fighting.

I am no fan of either team but that"slew foot" was nothing to get people this worked up about. There is virtually no way ZP would have been injured there. Slew foots are dangerous when a player is going full speed toward the boards not what some punk is trying to embarrass you.

Reminds me of elementary school when one person would get on hands and knees behind someone and another person would push them over. Funny funny, in a puerile sort of way. Nobody got hurt then either.

Nice punch by Kovalchuk though.

How's Briere doing?
If Kovys 6.6 mil cap hit is bankrupting the Devils while being on an incredible hot streak, it must really suck to have someone only making 100k less sit on the bench to rest his noggin.

The fact that he fought Ilya Kovalchuk doesn't make any sense either.. but then again it was a slew foot, and Schenn was the one who got in between Rinaldo and Kovalchuk. Although, with the amount of money Kovalchuk is bankrupting the Devils with, you'd think somebody else on their team would stand up for Parise to insure that their highest paid player doesn't get hurt.

Are you f'ing kidding me? You're down 6-0 so you need to stir the pot, yup totally agree. So rather than pick a fight and honorably drop the gloves you turn into a lil scumbag rat and slew foot?

Shanny should call him back and double his fine for uttering and admitting such cowardliness and stupidity.

Yet another no name no talent non tough guy AHLer playing in a league that doesn't want or need him.

Peter L you're a joke dressing Rinaldo and Shelley. The Wings constantly dominate the league going on 20 seasons without no-talent AHL'ers taking up rosters spots but you dear 2-3 a night.

Anyone remember seeing Probert, Kocur, Wendell, Nilan slew footing players?

Me neither
