Rechlicz on waivers, won’t get to avenge Backstrom

Feb 3, 2012, 1:43 PM EDT

Joel Rechlicz

Poor Joel Rechlicz – turns out he won’t get a chance to beat up Rene Bourque. The Capitals put the tough guy on waivers today, reports CSNWashington.com. If no NHL team picks him up, he’ll be back with the AHL’s Hershey Bears.

Yesterday Rechlicz said he was looking forward to Saturday’s game versus the Habs. As you’ll recall, Bourque – specifically the elbow part of Bourque – is the reason Caps leading scorer Nicklas Backstrom is out with a concussion.

I hear the Caps are interested in Carl Racki to fill their goon role.

Way to go McPhee…why can’t we put you on waivers!!! Your decisions absolutely suck. You are the reason the Caps wont ever win the cup.

dude why would you want this fool on your roster? secondly, you wont win a cup while semin is there and you have no goalie…so i guess that is mcphee’s fault

Look at this meathead. Go back to the AHL and stay there.

I’m glad to see Rechlicz get sent down, and could not believe that he was added to the team in the first place. Enforcers, and fighting, are on the way out in the NHL – an least I hope so based on the latest statistics for the number of fights this season. For more facts and studies on the impact of fighting in hockey check out this blog – http://itsnotpartofthegame.blogspot.com/. It’s time for the NHL to elminate it.

Nope, fighting will always have a place in the game, but if you fight 1000x better than you backcheck or skate you don’t belong in the NHL.
