Well, I'm american, though I'm a Canucks fan since 93 in high school, so, I just don't like shootouts. It's a cheap point. I'd like to see it earned an a more traditional way, and again, who can argue with how exciting the 4-4 is with rushes on both ends non stop.

I just think the 4 on 4 is the most exciting 5 minutes in hockey, and is too short. I say go 4 on 4 for 10 min, then if still tied, go 3 on 3 for 5-10 min. THEN a shootout if no one has scored.

Wrong post for shoot-out Hating comments. First, both teams played last night, to be put in a situation where 20 min sudden death periods were used to decide a winner would have been unfair to both teams. Second, and this also goes along with my first point, in standard 5-on-5 hockey, who was going to score on these guys? If this would have been the Playoffs, it easily could have gone 2 OT periods deep, if not more. The guys were out of gas, to force a player to continue playing in that type of game until a winner was decided would be ridiculous. Now if the game was 6-6, that would be a diffrent story, but these Goalies proved their worth by not allowing a single Regulation goal. As for my Sabres, this is only good news. Miller has been playing Lights-out for the past 7-9 games and it seems he is finally getting some help. As long as Buffalo beats the teams they are supposed too, and steals 2-3 from the teams they are not, we could be looking at an even more amazing turn-around from last season. The most dangerous team, is a team with nothing to play for. At this time, Buffalo is that team.

Good call. Hockey fans didn't care about ties for about 75 years. Then all of a sudden Bettman needed to force-feed hockey to Americans and changed everything the game that he could to get it done.

Granted the man knows how to sell a product, but I don't like the fact hockey's become a product to begin with. Watching the NHL was more enjoyable before the lockout. The new NHL does have more goals and speed. That's not a bad thing, but the old NHL had more hard-fought games and real rivalries, not that Vancouver-Boston stuff that the media eats up now. It was more authentic then and real fans loved it. Now we're stuck with a watered-down Americanized "product."

Please get rid of the shoot out. The only people who like the shoot out are the same who need to be told when to cheer and when the power play is starting in a "monster truck commercial" like voice followed by a howl or rawr matching that teams mascot...
