LOLOL. You’re right financials will have nothing to do with Parise’s contract extension becuase he won’t re-sign there… You screwed up BIG TIME not offering him a deal last year and failing to trade him… Welcome to free agency Parise!

Vincent Lecavalier has 11 years left @ a cap hit of $7.7 million, but i don’t ever seen article after article on here and everywhere else about how much of an albatross his contract is.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have a long contract worth a lot of money but people act like Kovy doesn’t produce and his contract completely handcuffs the organization and its just not true.

I wouldn’t call the doomsday scenario you just laid out a strong possibility. Devs are in the 8th seed with games in hand on the next two people above them. In the case of Ottawa they have something ridiculous like 4 games. Plus just in the effort to earn myself 8 million thumbs down from the Toronto fanboys, there’s also the strong consideration that the Maple Leafs suck.
