You're kidding right? The Blackhawks have already played a few games with no penalties called against their opponents.

If it really was that disturbing of a trend, if it really was a conscious trend against Vancouver, then that hook on Stalberg wouldn't have been just a penalty--it would have been a penalty shot (the latter I would have disagreed with)

But it happens. They let them play for the most part. And it was a great game.

/trolling Maybe they need to get better at diving? /endtrolling

<b.hockeyfan2010</b> trollin'... Read my first post: "Not any conspiracy, but 2 games in a row against the Hawks..." Chalk it up to bad officiating and a curious coincidence -- either way, I don't like it. The Stalberg slash was weak at best, and came after the refs had already botched 2 penalties they did call and at least 2 they did not.

The Canucks got 2 points, but the Hawks also earned a loser point. The better team won, but the poor officiating gave the Hawks an extra point in the standings. This could come back in the playoffs when seeding is determined, so as far as things evening out over the season, it still could impact home ice advantage in the playoffs. Okay, a bit of a stretch, but still... Giving away loser points to rivals is generally not a good idea.

The Hawks probably deserved a point out of this game based on their play, but they didn't deserve either of those powerplays, and were certainly did not play the squeeky clean game you make them out to have played.

The non-calls could have had a deciding effect, but they didn't. The Canucks got two points, end of story. Over the course of the year, none of this matters and tends to even out anyway. The fact that you act like there's some giant conspiracy against the Canucks to "miss" calls to give the opponent an advantage is laughable.

And to call the reffing in the game atrocious? Really? I've seen games called 100x worse. Like I said before, the game for the most part was played very clean, and the refs let them play.

Not sure if you could say the ice was slanted in any direction last night. Looked pretty even to me. Even if it was slanted against the Canucks, that non-call on Viktor Stalberg's breakaway tilted it right back into the Canucks favor. So like i said earlier, these things tend to even themselves out. Quit looking at it from just the Canuck fanboy perspective.

Schnieder was incredible last night, and Van won another game at home against a top notch opponent. Nobody (should be) complaining about anything related to the bottom line, but it's not whining to point out that theres a disturbing trend of entire games being played this year without even one penalty being called on Vancouver opponents.

No ones calling consipiracy here, there's a number of different theory's about why this is happening, (reputation from years past, coaches telling their players to avoid giving the #1 PP opportunities ...and so on) but to pretend it's normal and its childish to bring it up is kinda silly.

I do gotta say tho... there's not a ref on the planet that would have called a penalty shot on that "slash".

outplayed? the game i watched featured 2 high calibre teams trading chances back and forth all the while their goaltenders made incredible saves. while the Hawks may of had more shots and chances the sustained pressure by the Canucks was far more intense and the "sisters" took in home in the end. pretty even game to me.

The non-calls could have had a deciding effect on the outcome. Higgins was blatantly tripped and Kesler was boarded, and no calls were made, despite the Hawks already having received the benefit on phantom or weak penalty calls. The Hawks couldn't convert -- the Canucks have the #1 PP in the league. The game shouldn't have been tied with 5 min to go, nor should the Hawks have been given the chance to win with 5 min to go with a PP late in a tie game.

I'll take the win, but saying I shouldn't complain about the reffing is nonsense. It was atrocious. The Canucks won the game despite the ice being slanted against them, and on home ice no less (and the 2nd game in a row versus the Hawks with no PP opportunities).

Complain all you want about the Stalberg slash -- it would have been a soft call, so I am surprised they didn't call it... I doubt it would have gone to OT had the Canucks been given a power play at any point during regulation, let alone with 5 min to go. The Hawks should be grateful for the single point and move on. Hawks fans complaining about the reffing is laughable.

Yes, clipping is under the magnifying glass, but that call was purely on Ballard's reputation to throw hip checks. The ref obviously didn't see what happened at all on the ice, and made a bad decision. Just because hip checks are being given more scrutiny doesn't mean that refs can make up things on the ice that didn't happen... That is not understandable.

First, the Canucks won, so there's really no reason to complain about the officiating from a Canucks point of view.

Second, on the ensuing power play, the Blackhawks failed to convert. The penalty didn't lead to a goal and didn't swing momentum in either direction.

Third, and probably most important, the non-call for slashing on Viktor Stalberg's breakaway chance MORE than made up for any perceived blown calls that could have went the Canucks' way. That should have been a penalty shot and would have given the Blackhawks the opportunity to end the game right there. Instead, it's a non-call and a great scoring opportunity for the Blackhawks was negated. Game plays on.

Fourth, there were only 2 penalties called in the entire game. Both teams, for the most part, played very clean games, and the refs basically just let them play.

Fifth, since Marchand low-bridged Salo, low hits at the legs are now the new hit to the head. With all the concussion problems going around the league, I'm sure the NHL has upped enforcement of these hits. I'm not saying that that hit was deserving of a penalty, I'm just saying I'm sure you can understand why it was called.

So in the grand scheme of things, this insignificant penalty played NO part in deciding the outcome of this game. Take the W and shut up.

Second, on the ensuing power play, the Blackhawks failed to convert. The penalty didn’t lead to a goal and didn’t swing momentum in either direction.

Did you see Ballard's clipping penalty?! What a joke... Calls based on reputation are one thing. This was not even a hip check, let alone clipping -- how can a shoulder get at or below the knees?

Not any conspiracy, but 2 games in a row agains the Hawks, and the 'Nucks don't get any PP time? While getting this garbage thrown at them?
