Sometimes you just get unlucky on your shots. A couple of years ago everyone was worried about Lidstrom’s goal count when he was scoring on less than 5% of shots, saying that he was washed up, how did that turn out? Some shots are great, but a lot are just lucky you just have to keep firing at the net and hope something happens, a deflection, a good screen on the goalie, anything.

It’s unfortunate he’s struggling, but the fact that he’s trying so hard is good to see. He’s leading the team in shots, so no-one can say he’s pulling a Heatley on them. And hey, when your linemates are shoot-first guys, you may as well pass when the chance arises to set something up, right?

Lets be honest here… when you linemates are Hudler, who can’t pass very well, and Filppula, who has been directed to shoot the puck more, you’re not seeing the puck movement you’re used to if you’re Z. He’s played well in the defensive zone still, and he was never blessed with elite speed, so there’s going to be a decline as long as he’s on a line that has two ‘snipers’. He has to be the playmaker then.

I want Zetts to do better but the good thing about the wings is that they are not one of those teams where one man playing slow kills them.
