Bummer, but Vesa Toskala of the Leafs still holds the NHL record, having allowed an Islander’s 177-footer to elude him, shorthanded no less. It too had been deflected and was bouncing, but, my goodness, the shot originated in a different postal code. (PxP guy Joe Bowen mistakenly called it a 197-footer, forgetting in his excitement to subtract the 11 feet from end boards to red line, but his call was still better than Toskala’s effort.)

nhl has always had the best advanced media…but would it kill them to include some re-plays in the videos? i hate watching highlights and not being able to actually see what happens. they cut to the next highlight and/or end the video too soon!
