It’s pretty easy to see why they’re going ‘Fox News’ on him when he’s outwardly supported Glenn Beck and the Tea Party movement in the past. To each there own, but he hardly made any statements that can be pinned to any specific issues in our government that he’d take offense to. Way to take a stand, Tim.

If he expects anyone not to infer what he meant based on his history, or he really cared about effecting change in the government, he would have made a more specific statement or at least come out in support of a specific group (say, pledged his support for a candidate) that reflected his views. Since he hasn’t, he’s getting the response he is.

Boston won’t trade Thomas… its that simple.

With that said, IF they did it wouldn’t be a total shock. Thomas has a high trade value right now, but thats only going to last so long given his age. So if Boston ever wants to get a lot in return for him… now is the time. They also don’t have to worry about being left high and dry without a good goalie since they have Rask, who himself is probably one of the better goalies in the league. The other thing is with how well the Boston defense is playing… I think any decent goalie is going to look like a super start playing for them.

So there is some room here for Boston. They could get a lot for Thomas, and its probably not going to hurt them at all to trade him. However with everything clicking in Boston, I just can’t see the GM upsetting that.

Rask prefers to speak in the form of beatings administered to opposing forwards who dare to touch him. He’s a particularly angry goalie. I rather like him for that. =D

I’d take either Thomas or Rask over Bryzgalov any day. At the least the universe isn’t so “humongous big” with Thomas and I don’t think I’ve ever heard Rask utter a word. Oh and they’re both better goaltenders.

Yeah, it depends on what Chicago was willing to give up though? Rask is a great goalie with a bright future, unproven but a bright future. If the Hawks were willing to throw the kitchen sink at the Bruins, I believe they would pull the trigger.

Did you read his statement? He blames the abuse of power on wide scale within the Government. Calling out the removal of our rights as citizens. Which has happened in the last 10 years by the way! Why does everyone always have to go Fox news on a guy just because he is making a personal decision. Yeah they were being honored but, I don’t blame him one bit for using the situation to make a point about the state of our union. At least someone in this country is! It is not going to happen from within our elected leaders.

I hope they don’t trade him because, basically that would make the West that much better! I don’t think Stalberg would get it done though. I am guessing the Bruins would want a D-man, a top 6 forward and a draft pick

By far the most overblown part of this whole Thomas story is the effect on his popularity in the dressing room. These are guys who are together all the time. Is there really any way his teammates didn’t know that Tim Thomas is a pompous windbag with far right political leanings before this whole thing broke? They’ve managed to put up with the guy this long, I doubt the White House snub really changed how his teammates think about him.

Tim Thomas has never been popular with his teammates and kind of a lone wolf. That part isn’t news. There is no NEW or good reason for the Bruins to trade Thomas. Having two great goalies makes the Bruiins a better team.

As much as I don’t like the bruins organization this would be a stupid move on there part. Thomas is a great goalie and took them this far in the season. Why dismantle something good. Thomas is the main reason there winning not Rask.
