At the very least you keep this guy as a backup for this year & next’s & make a decision then when his contract runs out. Columbus is a mess & Mason is the least of their worries. Eat his contract, run the clock out & see if he’s salvagable.

I don’t think a lot of people realize that his Calder award was basically won during a 2 month hot streak in the second half of the year. Besides that run, he has been terrible. I mean just terrible. I don’t get any joy from saying it.

Mason represents losing to a lot of fans now. He has no confidence. Where do young players go to gain confidence and learn how to win and dominate? The minors. Tell me what the options are please?

You just can’t keep playing him, he’s already damaged goods. So either unload him for next to nothing, put him in your own farm system and let him get his confidence back or waive him. I’m not really an expert but I can’t think of to many things to do with this player.

You really think that will work. You regulate him to the AHL, you may lose him forever. CBJ is making a mistake if they waive him. And if they trade Mason, they aren’t getting much in return.

He has too much history (even though he is young) in Columbus now. 85% of it is bad.

Another team should take him, put him in the AHL for a season or 3 until he gets his sh!t together. Great project.

IMO, they need to get a legit goaltender. One that isn’t Sieve Mason, and commit To an overall defensive game. Much like they did (and the blues are doing now) with Hitchcock at the helm. Either way having Sieve between the pipes won’t bring in the wins.

Good contending teams start with goaltending. Building upon that is what you want to do.

It would be a mistake for the CBJs to get rid of Mason. He hasn’t played that good but he isn’t the only problem this team has. Unless they have an ‘up and coming’ prospect, they should stick with Mason and help him figure things out. This team is more than just a franchise goalie away from contending for a Stanley Cup.
