Buffalo captain wouldn’t choose any All-Star to join Sabres

There are your tiny fibs. There are your standard lies. There are your real whoppers. And then there’s whatever Sabres captain Jason Pominville said today in Ottawa in response to an interview question by teammate Luke Adam.

According to the Buffalo News, Adam — doing one of those fun teammate interviews that players will do from time to time — asked Pominville which All-Star he’d pick to join the 26th-place Sabres if he could choose just one.

Pominville’s response? “I don’t know if I’d pick a player. I like our team. I like everybody we have. I like the chemistry we have in our locker room, so I would keep it that way.”

Pominville is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with Pinocchio-related symptoms.

He’s also been offered the Columbus GM position.

Lol @ the Columbus GM joke. Buffalo fans be thankful you don’t have Scott Howson!

Seriously… What’s he supposed to say? Especially as the frickin captain.

“oh man, I’d love to have Kane in here in place of Briere and in my opinion, and any of these goalies out here would be a huge upgrade over what we’ve got! I mean, I wish we had signed Edler from the Canucks instead of Ehrhoff last summer.”

Oh, don’t worry, Jason, none of them want to be banished to your bleak and miserable little corner of hell either. See, unlike you, Jason, the other All-Stars, the ones who actually deserved to be there, they like things like “winning” and “making the playoffs.” They don’t like things like “signing mediocre hacks to massive contracts” or “pussying out when the Bruins run their goaltender.” That’s why you’re staring up at pretty much everyone. They don’t embrace mediocrity, and you do. Enjoy the bottom, Jason. It’s what you and your teammates deserve. If it’s any consolation, you’ll get a top-five draft pick out of the NHL’s sheer pity for you.
