Other than a hockey team with some history of success, what does Ottawa have that Columbus doesn't? Ottawa is a provicial capitol; Columbus is a state capitol. Both are homes to major universities.

The only thing Ottawa has that Columbus doesn't is an arena located out in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, Columbus only has an arena situated downtown, serving as the hub of a vibrant entertainment district ...

Thanks Gary!! You just set back the fans efforts to get McConnell to improve the Jackets at least five years. Awesome. All-Star weekend = another decade of piss poor hockey in Columbus. That's a fair trade for the Jacket fans.

If anyone is planning on coming, book a room right by Nationwide. Construction on the highways and exits means a traffic nightmare for you unless you know exactly where you're going with all the detours. Even then, sometimes you'll just sit in park while the poor sap in front of you tries to figure out which detour he needs to take. BTW- weather wise, it will either be raining or snowing, so don't plan on taking "lovely walks" around town. Food and nightlife is definitely below average for a city that's in the top 20 population wise. You can get hammered pretty easily both inside and outside of Nationwide.

I think people are going to start to realize how good a market Columbus really is. There are actually a lot of fans there, they just need something to cheer for.
11 years of shitty hockey and they still average just under 15 thousand. Pitt was down to 11 thousand during their long slump.

not that big of a deal... it's for the local fans more than the traveling. I mean honestly, who here has traveled more than 500 miles to see an all-star game???

Good for Columbus. They need something to cheer about

Wow, really? Has the Commish ever been to Columbus? Outside of OSU, there is no where for tourists to go. This is the problem with Bettman and the rest of the NHL. Trying to expand to non-hockey market. Ottawa is a perfect place to host an ASG weekend. Columbus isn't.
