the habs later ended up trading recchi back to the flyers for zubrus. maybe montreal and philly have never made a trade that didnt involve mark recchi.

I’m amazed I’m saying this about a deal that gave the Canadiens Mark fucking Recchi, but the Flyers mauled them on this deal. Desjardins was a solid playmaker and Leclair was on the Legion of Doom and notched more points than Recchi over the same span that Recchi was in Montreal. Significantly more, actually. Recchi couldn’t make it work with the guys he had with him, but Leclair exploded with Lindros.

Gleason would be a good way to shore up the Flyers’ D. He’d be a great way of getting rid of Vancouver’s Ballard contract. Trade Raymond and a pick or something, see if the ‘Canes want a forward who can actually maintain a plus rating. They’d need to find a victim onto which they can deposit Ballard first, but then, Ballard’s not a bad D. Just… bad for a team that’s built on speedy transitions. He’d be a solid guy on other teams, so they shouldn’t necessarily lack for outlets, especially amongst non-contenders.

Could have subbed many a guy for Clark. Clark = turnover machine. He’s a 5-6 defenseman on a team that has had one of the weakest blue line corps in the league this season.
