He will fit into the depth chart situationally during playoffs, which is all that should matter. Where they stick him during the regular season is nearly meaningless.

That was my thought as well. Raymond’s a better player than Moen to start with, and an RFA rather than a UFA this summer. Moen could well be a rental so we’d want a little more, but Montreal wouldn’t just give us Tinordi so we’d have to send something similar back their way.

Tinordi doesn’t bring much in the way of offence, but his size and physicality is a plus. Suave is more of a two-way guy, but at 6’3″, he’s no slouch physically either.

Given how many of the Canucks top 9 forwards were injured by the SCF last year MG would probably want to start him off replacing Weise on the 4th line, then move him up to the 3rd line when the injuries inevitably rack up.

A big weakness of theirs last year was also the lack of a trustworthy 4th line. Weise is a good 4th liner, but not level Moen good. According to Cap Geek they have the cap space to take on Moen’s contract without trading a roster player because of LTIR.

Huh. I like the sound of it. Might be working more to their advantage than Montreal’s, but Moen’s a rental, so that balances things out.

I know the Canucks wanted to get Tinordi in the 2010 draft, but once he was gone they okay’d the deal with Florida (Ballard/Grabner). Perhaps they find a way to package up a roster player and a prospect to make it happen? Raymond and Sauve for Moen and Tinordi?

I’m not sure how he’d fit into the depth chart. Maybe in place of Raymond on the third line? He’s not gonna knock Booth, Hansen or Hodgson out of their spots, but I guess that could work. Not exactly my first choice, but a solid enough guy.
