You do understand the concept of a bodycheck right ? “Cooke doesn’t play the puck at all” is easily explained as you remove the player from the puck AND THEN play it. Hope that explains it for you.

Jackman is a jackass! He should be suspended and the coach should be too. It appeared to me, as I watched this game, that the Blues players were being taught to fly head first into the boards any time an opposing player even thought about touching them. I questioned this after the first penalty by a Penguin player when the Blues player went harder into the boards than he should have from the hit. This type of behavior will lead to more injuries as refs wise up to the antics of weak players and coaches. After they do, they will hesitate to make a call and players will take full advantage of that

It doesn’t look like a dive or a dirty hit to me. Just a hit gone wrong. I don’t think anyone is willing to smash their face into the board like that on purpose. But that’s just my opinion.

Cooke doesn’t play the puck at all. Jackman doesn’t turn into the boards, he follows the puck and is turning to make a play in the other direction. Cooke didn’t have his stick on the ice to even play the puck. While it was an ill-advised play by Jackman it wasn’t a dive and Cooke is responsible for avoiding contact there.

That was one of the most embellished hit I have ever seen.
Cooke got the penalty for who he is and not for what he did.
Bullshit call for a bullshit team.
And if the Blues are so good why was half the arena filled with Penguins fans?
Because they wanted to see what a real franchise that actually wins titles looked like.

I just tried it. It really hurt and no one called a penalty! I’m alone right now so there isn’t anyone else here to call a penalty but still, it really hurt. I didn’t have any hockey gear on either. WAIT, it just went up on the board…….Cooke just got two minutes for boarding me!!!

I think this is a particular situation where it was a no-win for everyone… Cooke,and Jackman.

Cooke because you can clearly see he’s hitting Jackman from the side and then Jackman turns into the boards drawing the penalty. But the refs already have the whistles half way in their mouths whenever Cooke is on the ice.

Jackman because he got his face flattened… and for all you people saying that Jackman dove face first on purpose… I have my doubts. That’s a HUGE mental hurdle to get over to say “I’m going to purposefully throw myself face first into a wall.” If you think its not, try right now at home (I hope someone tries that would be awesome).

Obviously the refs are out to get Cookie. Cleary a dive. NHL should cancel this whole weekend and just broadcast a penguins scrimmage. There are more stars inside the penguins locker room on any given day. We can even offer a pens only skills competion, cause we are better at that too.

1. I don’t agree that jackman embelished nor do I believe that hit was a penalty…it was just a hockey play that looked bad.
2. the penguins were flopping around like wet seals the entire game and the reds kept buying it resulting in a pp goal. at one point malkin looked like he got sniped by a bazooka. so, I don’t feel bad for them, if anything a make up call.
3. the blues have been on the ass end of some really bad calls late in games this year, particulalry against van when this exact same play resulted in a penalty from a hit on buddies.

point being, whoever wrote this article is a jackass for trying to call out a guy for diving face first at full speed into the boards
