PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Brayden Schenn is turning his season around nicely in Philly. Getting to play bigger minutes thanks to injury helps out too. (CSNPhilly.com)

Hey, how’d the Ottawa Senators get so heavy in offensive prospects? (Senators Extra)

Jake Gardiner thought scoring his first NHL goal was “awesome.” Talk about downplaying things. (Toronto Sun)

Jochen Hecht is out of action with a concussion. Again. (Buffalo News)

Daniel Alfredsson had a goal disallowed against Phoenix last night. The Coyotes wound up winning 3-2. Controversy! (Ottawa Sun)

Anaheim is focusing on the positives of late. They’ll probably be ignoring the heck out of last night’s 1-0 loss to Dallas then. (OC Register)

The Winnipeg Jets are thankful for the All-Star break. (Winnipeg Sun)

So are the Chicago Blackhawks, but for more health-related reasons. (CSNChicago.com)

Finally, Alex Ovechkin might be suspended but you can’t stop him from handing out the shaving cream pie in the post-game interview to Mathieu Perreault. (CSNWashington.com)

Black Hawks always have a lot of excuses.

Who is this? Another irrelevant hockey player on the flyers. Post a story about this filthy team when they’re on a 7 game win streak. Oh wait, it hasn’t and never will happen. Eat it filthadelphia

The Flyers already had one of those, December 2-15. They also have more points than Pittsburgh with a game in hand, so I guess they are playing better then the Penguins when neither team is on a 7 game win streak as well. You are giving idiots everywhere a bad name.

Sorry to be the baerer of bad news to you melanie, but the pens just won their 7th straight last night. I guess if you were a fan of the greatest city in sports history then you would have known. And the flyers can have as many points as they want it doesn’t matter because the are notorious for bieing the pennsylvania bed shitters. And all of us from pittsburgh can’t get enough of it.

      you are an idiot.

I know this girl who had no idea she was pregnant until the day she gave birth. I always said she was the last person before they started declaring people retarded. You just took her place in line. I am pretty sure I acknowledged the Pens 7 game win streak. Basic reading comprehension would tell you as much.

As for the greatest city in sports history- Pittsburgh does not even have 4 major sports teams. I think you would need 4 to get in the argument. In no way am I implying that Philly is the greatest sports city but Pittsburgh is not even in the running. Pittsburgh has 14 championships in the acknowledged major sports leagues (Steelers 6, Pirates 5, Penguins 3). Philly has 17 (Athletics 5, Phillies 3, Eagles 3, Flyers 2, Sixers 2, Warriors 1, Quakers 1, Yellow Jackets 1). I guess if ignorance was not bliss you would have known that.

Can anyone catch a break on the flyers team with out getting shit on? Schenn had two injuries this season and he’s come back to start to really show his potential. Man, everyone shit the bed when Crosby came back and got 4 points, then he fell the fuck back into his concussion funk. Goddamn, relax on the Flyers hate. You’d think that Flyers players personally raped members of some of these posters families. The two Flyers most likely to rape members of your families are now gone, one is collecting money for having frosted tips in Columbus (Jeff Carter) and the other is wearing Uggz with Simon Gagne out in L.A. (Mike Richards). So damn boys, just chill and be cool. Its hockey, we all love it. Can we not just celebrate a player doing well now and again without the animosity?

This chat is flooded with incompetant philthadelphia fans. You people are impossible to have human communication with. Its like you guys live on your own retarded planet. Anything before 1970 doesn’t count and noone gives a shit about your golden nuggets and grand wizard high school teams. Philthadelphia reaks of cow shit and you can’t drive through there fast enough

    • ml3939 - Jan 25, 2012 at 2:53 PM

incompetent, it’s, no one, reeks- if our planet is retarded, you could only dream of living here.

    Fuck shittsburg

  8. tcclark - Jan 25, 2012 at 11:21 PM

Wow, did everyone hear? Nothing before 1970 counts. Start working on the record books people. We have a lot of history to erase. Let’s see….. Kobe Bryant is now the single game points leader with 82 points in one game. I’m still waiting for someone to score 100! The Montreal Canadiens lose 14 championships bringing their total from 22 to 8. And Sorry Maple Leafs fans, but your team now has no championships. Clearly the Tampa Bay Lightning have a much more historic franchise than you anyway…. they have a championship and you don’t.

What else? Ummm. will someone remove Hank Aaron from the Hall of Fame? the man only has 201 home runs. Those aren’t really “Hall worthy” numbers. And who the hell is this Babe Ruth fella? And what’s the big deal with Roberto Clemente? The guy played 3 years in his entire career. If he and some guy named Honus Wagner who never played a game are considered the two best players in Pirates history, then they must really suck.
