Miller takes shot up high during practice, leaves ice

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller left practice this morning in New Jersey after taking a Marc-Andre Gragnani shot up high “off the collarbone area,” reports

Right after the puck clanged the goalie, he got to his skates and headed directly to the dressing room area, stopping only briefly to angrily put his stick on the bench.

The agitated goalie spent time in the medical room with Tim Macre. The athletic trainer then met privately with coach Lindy Ruff.

When asked later if he was OK, Miller said, “Yeah,” and walked away.

Ruff added: “I think he’s OK.”

So that’s…good.

PS — Can you think of a worse goalie to hit up high with a shot during practice than Miller? I feel like he’d hold a grudge. Probably gonna give Gragnani the silent treatment for a month.

    Needs some anger management…

Maybe Miller is acting like a baby, but most goalies do get pissed when players shoot high in practice and warmups.

I had a goalie once that used to charge out at us if we went high during warm-ups. They’re all insane.

Warm-ups are for the goalie, not the shooters. Tuck it under the cross bar after I leave the net.

Warm ups, for sure. There may be nothing more annoying as a goalie than a team mate head shotting you in the warm up! But it is inevitable you’re going to take the odd one high in practise though…

Never have to worry with me. Right in the pads every time. Same as during the game, sadly.

When people went high on me in warmups, I used to just leave the net and stretch in the corner. If he feels the need to hear his shot clang off the glass to get ready for a game, it’s not coming at my expense.

        Hahaha @ Jason!

I play it safe & miss the net all the time, why take a chance?

Ryan Miller is having a comically bad year, isn’t he?

Miller cant stop anything up high. Grags should have known better. Maybe he should have just gone for Millers famous five-hole goals.
