I don't understand, Your saying that defense is the issue, along with goaltending, which I agree with. So are injuries not to blame for the fact that our top three defenders are out and our defensive core is makeshift right now. Its interesting how you want to call everyone that made a comment ignorant, and then be the biggest dumbass in your next breathe. This team does not lack depth, these kids that are being called up are just young and bound to make mistakes defensively as they learn a new system. And they did bring back a core defensmen every year since we won the cup in 2004, Pavel Kubina, and if you have watched any Lightning games this season you would know that he is consistently holding down our blue line, but he can't be out there every shift, and he is trying to learn his partner, because of injuries.

Do your self a favor and close your account so we don't have to hear you elitist rambling anymore, because you haven't a clue what you are talking about. (And we're the ignorant ones, HA!)

Thank you, jaybertx, its so refreshing to hear from somebody who knows what they are talking about, and not some pens fan with his head up his ass.

This organization is echoing this, as did Guy Boucher, this morning in when he addressed the local media. In no way is he blaming injuries, he's just saying that they were unexpected.

While I agree that it's unwise for a head coach to concede to injury and speak of their unstable roster as a blame for a lot of their troubles. But wow, every post was made in this has been ignorant.

Injuries are a test of depth. Well, when you don't have much to start with, that's difficult to do. Tampa's biggest two problems are DEFENSE and GOALTENDING. Funny how the two go hand-in-hand. Then need to bring back a core defensman to hold their blue line. To blame injury is a lame scapegoat. Your team lacks depth on the blue and you're starting a career backup because you signed a 41-year-old to a 1-year deal even after he was pulled twice in the playoffs. Not a great move.

Yes the injuries are a problem but the real problem is organizational depth. That is something that Steve Yzerman had dead in his sights and while this year has been disappointing, he is interested in building a quality team for the long term -- NOT trading the future for patchwork players. Teams that have lots of injuries and still play well can attribute it to organizational depth.

A goaltender that can consistently stop pucks from going into the net doesn't hurt either.

His whole team was two players? Crosby and Malkin. Still had a Cup winning goalie and one of the strongest defensive corps in the game all healthy. BOlts have issues in goal even when everyone plays.. They need all the healthy bodies they can find.

It is so ridiculous that Guy Boucher is blaming injuries for his teams inconsistency. Tampa Bay is 21st in the NHL in Man-Games Lost Due to Injury with 121. Pittsburgh has the most Man-Games Lost with 240, yet they are still contending. Florida is 9th overall with 185 and they are in first place in their division. As a matter of fact, there is only one team in the top 8 teams of the Eastern Conference that has less Man-Games Lost than Tampa Bay and that's Boston who happens to only have 32 Man-Games Lost which is the lowest in the league.

Most good teams can still perform despite injuries, so the obvious thing here is that Tampa Bay just isn't very good.

Does this guy live in a box? "Oh Woe is me, woe is me. Injuries and back to backs, oh woe is me!". Lindy would BBQ'd if he acted like this. Sure, he has mentioned it, but not to this effect. It may be bad when your calling up AHL'ers to replace your NHL'ers, but what happens when your AHL'ers are hurt too? Ask the Sabres. Ehrhoff, Ennis, Myers, Regehr, Miller, Tropp, Hecht, Roy, Gerbe, Gaustad, Boyes, McNabb, McCormick, Leino, Stuart and Kaleta. All 16, 16!!! of these players have missed time this season, and it has always been multiple games except Roy. This is where I think this team is broken, they see al these guys going down and think "We can't win now, how are we going to win?" and thats why we have the product on the ice that we do. Darcy needs to go, but Lindy should get to atleast see next season and see what a healthy roster, and possible top-5 pick, can do for this team.
