Whether you like the guy or not, he’s the president of the United States. Tim has made a great living and a great career in the United States and I’m sure he’s benefitted from tax-paying dollars and every other right that as an American citizen we all enjoy. It’s a little bit of a slight to sort of forget all that and choose to do this.”

Pretty sure people bash the Tea Party because it’s a racist organization with transparently selfish views that alienate a massive proportion of the US. Don’t make the fallacy of assuming that being anti Tea Party means being anti-government/tax… theirs a lot of depth to the politically right.

I love the people who bash the Tea Party. God forbid anyone stand against the overtaxation and profligate spending of their precious Government. Just put your Sports blinders on and blot out the ever creeping blight around you. At least you have the NHL on HDTV.

That said, this seemed an inappropriate time to make this particular statement. But that’s what you get in a Free Society, rampant disagreement. I am glad everyone does not think like me. It makes this place far more interesting.

At first I admired Tim Thomas for what he did and said. I thought he respectfully told us his opinion and denied the event with class, but after reading your thoughts I can’t help but agree with you. This event has nothing to do with politics and in a way he turned his back on his team.

My thoughts exactly. Obviously Thomas had every right to do what he did, but it just doesn’t make him look very good. An apolitical team event is the wrong time to make an individualistic political statement.

As a Bostonian and a Bruins fan, I have to say that Tim Thomas acted like a selfish moron. This was a team event, not a “Tim Thomas” event. He embarrassed the organization on a national stage. I’m sure there were other players who don’t support Obama who attended without disrupting the event with an ill-informed rant. He could have been fined by the team for violating the terms of his contract. No words from Mr. Law-and-Order on that little detail.

He’s entitled to his own political views but don’t rain on the parade of your own organization and on your own teammates by electing to vent your views in this fashion.

And did you notice that, in true Tea Party style, he let loose with his outburst and then said he would not answer any questions about it. Now there’s a true stand-up guy who is up for a free flowing exchange of ideas!

I don’t know where he went to law school but he was obviously absent from class when they discussed Constitutional law. Stick to hockey, Tim…it’s something that you know about.
