Sad really, other than Thomas, most Bruins can't even spell the word President.

They're more concerned with punching guys in the head when they're not looking.

Over/Under on next Bruin cheap shot and suspension. 5 Games?

While it's his right to skip the event, it's best to leave politics aside for this event. It's a PR event for the NHL, the Bruins and the President. Attending it doesn't imply support for a particular President nor his policies.

Personally, I think there are better ways to be politically active. I always hate it when a favorite singer starts to spout off about politics. I just want to hear them sing, that's all. Don't ruin it for me!

Now, I'm a libertarian conservative, so I agree with almost nothing Obama does. Who cares! Visiting the White House would be amazing. I would consider myself lucky to have the opportunity, unfortunately, I only get to stand outside the gates with the rest of the tourists and gawk.

I didn't vote for Clinton either, but I did get the opportunity to shake his hand while he was President. It was intense and absolutely awesome to be in that bubble for a mere two minutes. An unforgettable experience, (and it didn't change my political beliefs at all!) I think Thomas might regret this.

SO WHAT WAS OBAMA TO HAVE DONE ?

I like Tim Thomas as a hockey player, but snubbing the president like this was very misguided and extremely naive. People should think back to election night in November of 2008 and the situation we were in then. Sure it seemed like a wonderful evening, with Obama claiming the presidency and promising us all a fresh start. In reality however, it was essentially the equivalent of someone being promoted to Captain of the Titanic one hour “after” hitting the iceberg ! The tables were stacked against Obama from the very start and I for one am utterly amazed that we’re even still afloat ! Think what would have happened if government spending had been stopped and all the massive corporations and banks were left to die ungainly deaths on their own ? .. social upheaval ? .. massive unemployment ? .. anarchy ? .. class war ? … at least Obama has tried his best to avert what is probably now inevitable.

So I’m sorry Tim Thomas, as you were very “cool” last spring when you gave it to the Sisters and that Italian “tire pumper” … but on this one you’re dead wrong ! If you want to make a statement against “them” then go and call out the members of the Bilderberg Group, the Rothschilds, the Schlumbergs or the Illuminati. Don’t take it out on the decent “well-intentioned” man who is Barack Obama …

Milbury is pretty mild here. I really wanted to make a joke about how he likes to communicate his ideas by hitting people in the head with shoe... but he's actually being reasonable here.

I don't object to Thomas not attending either, but I find it bizarre that it was the guy with the founding father-stache that refused to go to capitol hill.

Well, Mr, Milbury, when else could he make the statement of not attending a White house invite?
I admire him for his stance. However, should the President be ousted in the next election, and a Republican take office, and the Bruins repeat, will he make the same choice not to appear?
For if he then attends, he will look foolish.
