Boston University vs. Providence College

We’re taking you “Back To Class” for our roundup of the weekend’s action in college hockey. Look for more college hockey on NBCSN this Friday night as Yale takes on Harvard.

Boston University’s big weekend has them challenging Minnesota-Duluth as one of the top teams in the country. Hammering Providence College 6-1 and 8-0 gets everyone’s attention. (Boston Hockey Blog)

Meanwhile, BU’s rivals at Boston College were swept by Maine this weekend. It wouldn’t be a college hockey season if BU and BC weren’t at each other’s throats. It was the first time Maine swept BC in six years. (The Maine Campus)

Speaking of Minnesota-Duluth, they held off a very game Alabama-Huntsville this weekend in a pair of unusually close games. Not bad for a UAH team that’s on the brink of being wiped out of existence. UMD Hobey Baker candidate Jack Connolly was huge for the Bulldogs. (USCHO)

Michigan earned a split of their weekend series with Notre Dame, dropping Friday night’s game on NBCSN 3-1, but winning Saturday night 2-1. (MGoBlue)

Miami University is catching fire after sweeping Western Michigan. (CHN)

The ECAC’s top team, Cornell, earned a three point weekend with a dazzling overtime win against Dartmouth and a tie against rival Harvard. A tie against Harvard always feels like a loss for the Big Red. (Cornell Sun)

Meanwhile ECAC No. 2 Union split with Brown and Yale while last year’s NCAA Tournament team and disappointing last place RPI swept the weekend. (Parting Schotts, Troy Record)
