Watch Brayden Schenn crush Steve Kampfer with a huge (clean) hit

Jan 22, 2012, 5:54 PM EDT

Today’s Bruins-Flyers game in Philadelphia has been full of the rough and tumble stuff you expect from these two teams, but one hit in particular will have everyone talking.

Flyers forward Brayden Schenn laid out Bruins defenseman Steve Kampfer with a gigantic hit as Kampfer carried the puck out from behind his net. As you might expect, the Bruins didn’t think highly of the hit and Chris Kelly stepped up to fight Schenn even in spite of the hit being perfectly legal.

Check out the play yourself to see how rough Kampfer had it. The hit put Kampfer out of the game for a short time but he did return later.

(Thanks to for the video)

Clean hit, and surprised me that it came from Schenn. He had legs in this game. Great pace all around and playoff style hockey. I hate that it came down to a shootout. (sigh) stop breaking my heart Bryz.

And boom goes the dynamite. Awesome hit.

Bryz couldn’t stop a Mac truck if he tried. Pathetic. Your team is as strong as your weakest link. Bryz is that link

Dude, a Mack truck? He’s a goalie, not a redwood. How about a beachball.

Clean hit but Secito (spelling) hitting Horton in the head in that game should have a look….

why m must we fight every time there is a big hit?

    • micasa81 - Jan 22, 2012 at 11:17 PM

Yeah, it’s dumb. I watched Kesler try to fight Kronwall earlier this year after he got rocked. Kronwall wouldn’t go, and there’s no reason he should have had to. People argue it’s all part of “the code”, but the truth is no one agrees on what the code actually is.

Agree completely. It seems any kind of decent body check always results in a fight anymore. It’s ridiculous. Hope this doesn’t carry over into the playoffs. There may be a fight every 2 minutes.

Hard fought game between two tough and entertaining teams. Unlike the skirt wearing divers in Skancouver and Montreal.

I’m sure Schenn will never hit anybody for the rest of his career now that he had to answer to Chris Kelly. Way to send a message Chris.

    • polegojim - Jan 22, 2012 at 7:34 PM

Oh yes, that was such a bad whooping, nobody will EVER want be on Kelly’s bad side again…. NOT

Kelly got the worst of it and only landed little panty waste jabs.

I think Salmon was being sarcastic…at least I hope so. Kellys and the Bs mentality is to stick up for your mates no matter what. Doesn’t matter that Kelly got bitchslapped…just another example of how everyone has each others back on that team…and another reason why they’re one of the deepest and top teams in the league again

Have had a chance to watch Kampfer in the AHL and all I can say is this hit was long awaited. He skates around the minors like he thinks he is above all else, and he just maybe in that league. Welcome back to the BIGS, Steve. Way to keep your head up.
