The comments section is open. Go say what you think. No big whoop.

We’ll give you some topics:

—- Non-All-Star James Neal seems to be pretty good at hockey after scoring two goals.

—- Alex Ovechkin had three points (1 G, 2A) but should he have been punished for his leaping hit to the head of Zbynek Michalek?

—- And shouldn’t Michalek have been punished harder for his questionable hit on Matt Hendricks?

—- Evgeni Malkin might just be the best player in hockey right now. Scoring the game-winning goal and adding three points is awfully impressive.

—- Make it six wins in a row for the Penguins who seem to not miss Sidney Crosby or Jordan Staal at all.

Now go, talk amongst yourselves.

Good to be a Pens fan anywhere right now.

It’s never good to be a Penguin fan.

now if the ravens would just go away quietly today…

The James Neal all-star snub is pretty ridiculous. How does a guy who is top 5 in goals not make the game?

  3. napoleonblownapart6887 - Jan 22, 2012 at 3:35 PM

Stiller – I’m at Rhino Bar right now. Glorious

  4. cmonmanzz - Jan 22, 2012 at 3:37 PM

Man…Great game!Malkin is the best player in the world right now. Seeing him work that hard to set up Neal’s second goal was unbelievable.

It was in 2009. Still is. Always will be – only drawback is dealing with the haters

both ovechkin and michalek should get fined but nothing more, although michalek on hendricks looked a lot worse because it was from behind. there’s such a huge difference in our transition game and breakout thank to letang’s return. its a shame he missed all those games because he is playing like a shoo-in for the norris right now

    • stakex - Jan 22, 2012 at 4:04 PM

I think Mickalek will get at least a game or two. It was a hit from behind, delivered to the head of a vulnerable player. It checks all the hallmarks of a suspendable play.

Ovechkin on the other hand definatly should have been given a penelty, but I don’t see anything beyond that. It was clearly a charge since he left his feet, but the head wasn’t the principle point of contact, and it wasn’t fromt behind.

      • Jeff Thomas - Jan 22, 2012 at 4:21 PM

It doesn’t matter if it’s from behind or the front, you can’t leave your feet before the hit.

      • johninpa - Jan 22, 2012 at 7:17 PM

And you can’t target the head.

      • ihateannouncers - Jan 23, 2012 at 2:28 AM

Clearly a charge..CLEARLY A HIT TO THE HEAD ( unless you are a Penguin hater)…both he and Michalek will get at least a game.

Huge game for the Penguins coming up against the STL Blues.
Really, you probably want to check this one out. There’s badass, and then there’s David Backes.

    JOE YERDON ROCKS !

This Jewish thing is funny like crazy ! :) … and I tip my hat to comrade Yerdon for keeping the “fires of humor” burning brightly … I used to be a regular contributor over there at PGT, which had a similar format to PHT here … but then in November, they decided to get all “faggy and serious” by changing their format completely in-order to accommodate The Golf Channel (ie: their new masters) … it became boring as hell overnight and so I subsequently left that website for good … now I’m here at PHT and I can truthfully say that this website equates to “good times” thanks to people like comrade Yerdon ! …

anyway, before discussing my topic for this occasion, I think it’s important to again review the basics:

    – the Vancouver Canucks are a criminal organization

    – the Boston Bruins are the reigning Stanley Cup champions

    – Roberto Luongo is an over-rated “Michelin Man” whose tires should be slashed

    – Tim Thomas is “cool” and he’s by far the best goalie in the league

now the topic I’d like to address is this goof Ovechkin … yeah, big man “Ovi” … for lack of a better word, the guy is a complete “suck-hole” and he’s a “disgrace” to all of the Russian greats who’ve gone before, including my personal favorite player of all time Vladislav Tretiak (ie: sorry Bobby Orr, but you’re # 2, even though I love you) … I’m not a violent person, nor am I one to wish harm upon others … but at some point, enough becomes enough … and therefore I will not be shedding any tears, if this phoney “parasitic” hot dog finally gets a taste of his own medicine ! … him and his ilk make me sick to my stomach and the sooner they are “dealt with” the better …

I have no idea what your deal is against Ovechkin because you didnt tell us why you hate him. This also means i doubt you watch a lot of Cap games and see all the plays he does, not just the highlighted ones or the potentionally illegal hits. Do you hate Chara in Boston as well, cuz he hits? Or any of the Staal brothers? Or any player in the NHL who plays a million miles a second who also hits people? Would about Matt Cooke in Pittsburgh, who easily has been far worse than Ovechkin, hate him as well? Please, actually post an argument to your dislike for someone instead of some stupid rant that makes no sense. Give us a challenge when insulting you by making said arguments coherant and justifiable. In other words think before you do anything. And trust me, thats really good advice.

you forgot to mention that David Backes is the most under rated player in the NHL. Google ‘Daily Grind Sports” for some good NHL coverage
