In 2009-10 and 2010-11, Malkin had various knee injuries that affected his play. Last year, he missed the second half of the season because he needed surgery.

As if that isn’t enough…he is UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE PENS THROUGH 2013-2014…so this INS’T a contract year.

You guys are terrible with the facts.

Malkin is playing great hockey…and it was pretty obvious at the beginning of the season, he was still working his knee (remember surgery last year?) back into shape. He missed some time because the knee was swelling after games/practices.

Obviously now, things are better….58 points in 41 games.

To say Giroux is ‘so much better’ sounds like don’t remember anything about what Malkin has done before this year.

In their careers,
Giroux has 205 points in 251 games (68 goals)
Malkin has 476 points in 393 games (184 goals)

Plus, Malkin has already won a scoring title (Art Ross) and the Conn Smythe trophy.

I like Giroux a lot…but ‘so much better than Malkin’…that’s just not right.

Do you want a smaller, speedier skater with elite vision and incredible playmaking skills who is the best player on both ends of the ice, who plays hard every game of every year? Take Giroux.

I’d take Malkin in any contract year, and Giroux every other year.
