as a true to the core oilers fan i like hemmer...but the fact is hes not going to resign with them so id look at our needs....defense id try to trade him for a puck moving d man or something along those lines ...and then in the summer make a run for either weber or sullivan in nashville. oilers are set up front for now ...fix the d line and goaltending ( someone say schnider from vancouver?) and this will be a playoff team next yr

Uh, "roll the dice in an attempt to make the playoffs?" Correct me if I'm wrong, but Florida's still on top of the Southeast. They're not going to stay there with the Capitals finally having figured their shit out, but at this rate, they're in no matter what they do. They're not worried about falling out of the playoff race.

As far as Hemsky goes... man, why would Detroit want him when they've got the cap space to land a guy like Parise or Iginla? Hemsky's small and skilled, like Parise, but also inconsistent as fuck. Iggy's much stronger and tougher, which the Wings could stand to benefit from. The only argument one could make for Hemsky is that he's younger and Detroit, being thoroughly full of greybeards, might value that over Iginla's short-term superiority - but in that case, I'd sooner try to cash in big on Parise than a guy as dicey as Hemsky.

Then again, Detroit has a way of making players produce spectacular numbers as soon as they throw on a Wings jersey, so maybe they know something I don't.

Hemsky would make a perfect fit in SJ, he is soft and always injured making him a perfect fit. And who knows Doug Wilson would probably trade away a top 6 player a prospect and a draft pick too.
