Glad you did this article Mike - it shows how awful they've been at drafting. As a Winnipegger it feels reminiscent of Neil Smith's awful draft record. Detroit is the model of what every team should emulate

Unfortunately, that wouldn't work. You didn't go high enough. The primary decision maker is Mike Priest, the President. And McConnell, the majority owner, is the guy that put Priest in position and gave him all the power. The team HAS to be sold to an owner that has a clue. Until that day comes, expect a merry-go-round of coaches and GMs, not one of which will succeed because Priest has the final say on everything. Worst run franchise in all of sports. Period. My ticket rep called me on the 9th to check and see if I was still a "loyal fan" (what kind of crap is that?). I asked him a simple question. He didn't know the answer (which is fine) and he said he would look it up and call me right back. Still hasn't called back, nine days later. Worse team in the NHL and they ignore their ticket holders. Morons can't even get basic customer service right.

As a comparison, FSN Detroit just put a graphic up that 18 of the 28 players that played for the Red Wings this year are their own draft picks. The average choice was 110 and the highest was 18 (Jimmy Howard). There was more on there, but that is what I can remember.
