It’s also a comment on the NHL’s ability to make up rules in the middle of the season when it goes against a star player.. the elimination of the crease rule on Brett Hull’s overtime Stanley Cup goal, and the Avery rule when he was “bothering” Brodeur.

So quit getting your panties in a bunch. I’m not insulting your boy Crosby. It’s not his fault if he gets hit and the league changes the rules. Just relax and enjoy 9th place.

I see little difference between this classical hip check and the one meted out by Marchand on that Finnish beanstalk last weekend … you see, the problem was not so much with the “hitter” as it was with the “hittee” … unlike Simmonds who is athletic, Salo is a lumbering “ungainly” oaf, who stands little chance of ever making it as a stuntman once his hockey days are over … Simmonds on the other hand obviously has some gymnastic and dancing skills, which are a basic requirement of anyone playing in the NHL … or at least they should be ! …

ps: for those who aren’t aware, it’s been a “house joke” here in Vancouver for years, that Salo is the most “injury-plagued” Canuck of all time … you just look at him and he’ll probably suffer some kind of injury ! .. the previous year he missed the first half of the season because he injured his leg playing floor hockey during the summer in Finland ! … when you have your own hometown media poking fun at you all the time, then you just know that there’s some truth to the matter … the bottom line is that a “normal” NHL player with basic gymnastic and dancing skills would not have landed so awkwardly like Salo and hence nothing would have come of it …
