If this guy gets 8 million per then we need a new pay system. I like the kid and think he’s a good player maybe in the 5-6 million range. But the 8 mill contracts are supposed to be for superstar types who win scoring titles and such. Does anyone think Zach is worth more than stamkos ? Really?

Detroit’s got a bit of a preference for older stars when it comes to free agent signings, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they sooner went after a guy like Iginla than Parise, especially considering he’ll go cheaper long-term by comparison. Not saying they won’t go for Parise, they’d be crazy not to and crazy they aren’t, but don’t be surprised if Minny edges them out for the hometown hero.

He will be wearing the forest green, iron range red, and wheat colors of the Minnesota Wild next year. They have the cap room to get a deal done with him. Oh boy, I can’t wait for him to getting pucks from Grandlund, and Koivu.

I agree money might factor but Florida wouldn’t even be on his teams to consider… Detroit makes sense for all the obvious reasons ….. Minnesota is very likely because he is from here and his wife / fiance (I forget) lives here and they just bought a new house on lake Minnetonka $$$$, Minny is on the rise even thou their season will end very badly top 10 pick …. who knows what will happen but I would be shocked if it wasn’t one of the 3 teams mentioned

If Devils miss playoffs I can’t imagine Parise would return. Wants to play for a winning team with shot at a cup. But I’m just saying that a fat contract could sweeten the deal

Panthers have somewhere around $9 million in cap space too, maybe more. It would be hard for Parise to turn down the Wings though, no matter how much money the small market teams will throw at him.
