Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t. Point is his ego has never been a detriment to any team he’s played for. It was never a problem in Montreal when they were winning. Now that they’re losing the media wants to find a problem with Mike, with their coach, basically anyone except the guys in charge who are responsible for the team’s woes. The Montreal media has been putting on a pathetic display for the ages this year.

Honestly, it’s kind of been his story for ages now. It was his story when he played in Manchester in the AHL. And it was the same thing in LA. Just because it wasn’t talked about non-stop in the media doesn’t mean that the rumblings didn’t exist.

I listened to Mike Boone of the Montreal Gazzette yesterday on the radio and he DESTROYED the trade, what other media in Montreal has been saying, and painted a scary picture in Montreal under Pierre Gauthier.

And he was 100% correct

François Gagnon shouldn’t be worried about getting quotes showing how unpopular the outgoing near-Toronto native was – he should get the public panicked over the fact that there are now as many players with Spanish names (Gomez & Diaz) as there are French Canadians (Darche & Desharnais). Now THAT’S a La Presse & Journal de Montreal front pager if I ever saw one.

1943mrmojorisin1971 I agree the way they are treating Cammy in the press is terrible. He was one of my favorite Habs! But at the same time why are we, in Montreal, so quick to trash our own. PK is a little egocentric, but he has the potential to be an excellent NHLer one day. If he would just play hockey. As far as I’m concerned, the wrong guy was shipped out. It should have been Gauthier on a plane to Calgary!

No kidding. At the end of the day most of the claims made by Boston and Vancouver homer journalists are at least FOUNDED in fact. They might diverge pretty dramatically from reality in some cases, calling a clean hit a headshot here or a dive legitimate there or straight-up mouthing off about each other’s players, but it’s all generally close enough to reality to be recognizeable. They’re not crazy. They just hate each other.

And then there’s Montreal, where a player is glorified as the greatest thing since Rocket Richard one game and crucified, threatened with violence and showered in trade demands if he doesn’t do it in the next twenty-five consecutively. Carey Price more recently, Patrick Roy most famously… and hell, as far as Cammy goes, these idiots were worshipping the ground he walked on when they shocked the League in their glory run. He was a PPG playoff performer – no talk of what a “loser” he was then, was there? The sheer degree to which Habs journalists and fans actually ignore and rewrite reality to suit their collective insecurity issues truly baffles me.

While both Boston and Vancouver media have been rightfully derided as childish homers over the past week, at least they never came off like a bunch of psycho ex-girlfriends. I bet they’ll be busy this weekend cutting Cammalleri out of all of the Habs team photos, or drawing devil horns on him…

The way the Montreal media is trying to drag this guy’s name through the mud is despicable. I’d never anything of this nature about Mike before he got traded. I wonder whose ego was so hurt by his (truthful) comments that they chose to give up this information. For some reason the name PK comes to mind…..
