If this guy plays smart, which he is capable of doing, he is a great addition for a team. Unfortunately seems to get lost at times.

As a fan of the team I think he is great, but it seems it’s time for him to go.

Thanks, but if they were doing it to save cash, they can’t really whine if the Rangers don’t want to give him away and pay him when they could have had him for the full price.

Waivers and re-entry waivers work differently. If he had been claimed on waivers the claiming team would acquire his entire salary. If claimed in re-entry waivers they are only responsible for half his paycheck. The Rangers would have to pay the other half. NYR did the same thing when they claimed Avery on RE waivers from Dallas a few years back.
