Now Jack Edwards is chirping the Canucks

Jan 12, 2012, 11:23 AM EDT

The voice of the Boston Bruins took to Twitter this morning to blast the Vancouver Canucks after a number of media guides with a Stanley Cup-hoisting Zdeno Chara on the cover were ripped up, allegedly by the Canucks.

You know, a lot of people are going to say that this Bruins-Canucks rivalry is starting to get out of hand. But those people just don’t get it. Obviously Jack Edwards is going to take this sort of thing seriously. When you win a Stanley Cup ring with a team, you’re forever loyal to the guys in the room. It’s that whole “band of brothers” mentality that only those who’ve fought and bled alongside each other can truly understand.

I’m sure Jeremy Jacobs will take offense to this idiot’s irresponsible use of the adjective “BIGGEST” when describing a rather minor incident when compared to the HOLOCAUST.

    What a jerk.

    • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:43 AM

Sorry, “book burning” is a reference to the holocaust?

Jack Edwards is a clown, but you’re not exactly giving people reason to think of you any differently..

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:47 AM

Have you seen Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade?

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:48 AM

        @bozo

Also, it even has it’s own wikipedia page…

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_book_burnings

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:56 AM

Wow, there’s a lot of anti-Semitic people on here with bad taste in movies.

      • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:21 PM

Yes, if I recall correctly Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was the comprehensive guide to the history of book burning.

Err no wait, it was a fucking action movie set in Nazi Germany.

Or maybe you believe the Nazis traveled back in time and burned books (and buried scholars) during the Qin dynasty, or destroyed the Libraries of Alexandria and Baghdad, or burned Aztec historical documents in the 15th century?

And please, don’t pull out the “anti-Semite” card – just because you can’t go around calling people Nazis, doesn’t make the people who call you on it racist.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:37 PM

        @davesbaby

It’s nice to see that you wikipedia’d book burning to try to sound educated in order to mask your previous ignorance on the issue.

Just say thanks because you learned something new today.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:57 PM

        Directly from wikipedia:

“Some particular cases of book burning are long and traumatically remembered – because the books destroyed were irreplaceable and their loss constituted a severe damage to cultural heritage, and/or because this instance of book burning has become emblematic of a harsh and oppressive regime. Such were the destruction of the Library of Alexandria, the obliteration of the Library of Baghdad, the burning of books and burying of scholars under China’s Qin Dynasty, the destruction of Aztec codices by Itzcoatl, and the Nazi book burnings of Jewish literature.”

Your 8th grade teacher must be so proud of your regurgitation skills.

Here, take your next rebuttal from this page:

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_451

      • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:54 PM

Yes, I quoted the easiest examples at arm’s reach – from Wikipedia.. sorry you’re so obviously hurt by the fact that your comments are worth no more effort than that.

Although, if you’d just made the same bare minimum of effort you could have saved yourself from looking so ridiculous here.

Or are you just miffed that I’m using Wikipedia as a source rather than the films of Steven Spielberg?

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:10 PM

2 hours ago you didn’t even know that the Nazis burned books.

And then you plagiarized wikipedia in an attempt to trivialize the mass slaughter of millions of people and diminish the contributions of our veterans to right that wrong.

Not to mentionyou’re still in denial over Edwards’ comment that compared your favorite team to the architects of the largest mass genocide of the 1930-40s.

My original point was simply that Jeremy Jacobs probably took offense to that comment as did millions of other Jews and WWII veterans living and working in Israel and around the world.

We should probably report your Iranian-nuclear-scientist-loving-self and Jack Edwards to the ADL.

      • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:20 PM

Please don’t assume anything about what I do or do not know, because you are 0-fer on that front today.

I guess you have no problem completely fabricating things to justify your scathing comments on this site, which is fine I guess but I have a hard time believing that there’s a reasonable adult out there sitting behind a keyboard that actually thinks these things.

Anyway feel free to keep on inventing facts and associations to suit your needs, I’ll just finish up by pointing out that you’ve spent the last few hours proving my point (you look like a clown when you use dubious reasoning to vilify people you don’t even know) to be absolutely true.

        So thanks for that.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:20 PM

Also, checkout who referred you to wikipedia in the first place.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:23 PM

        @davebabychreturns

You just called the holocaust a complete fabrication??

        Wow, just wow…

      • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:42 PM

Okay one more response, but only because your lack of reading comprehension is so endearing (well that and you’re accusing me of hate speech).

Nobody called the holocaust a fabrication. I don’t have time to detail all of the comments you’ve made here that are fabrications but the existence of the holocause is not among them.

As our mutual pal Jack Edwards says, “you cannot change history.”

(Although I bet when you sober up and re-read this exchange you’ll wish you could at least delete it.)

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:58 PM

        Here are my points:

        1) Holocaust=book burning
        2) Indiana Jones is a good movie
        3) People that don’t like Indiana Jones have bad taste in movies
        4) You “quoted” wikipedia without giving proper credit to the source

        Here are my fabrications:

        1) You’ve made it to at least grade 8.

I’m sorry that I assumed that you had already made it to grade 8.

Let me know if I missed anything.

      • Ralphie - Jan 12, 2012 at 4:22 PM

Wikipedia: “The only encyclopedia with more information on Freddy Krueger than William Shakespeare.”

        Or better yet…

Wikipedia: “An online open-source encyclopedia that has been shown to contain a large amount of inaccurate information, tabloid influenced rhetoric, over-the-top emotional based opinions, blatant political fabrications and innuendo, and callous disregard for scientific fact.”

        Or even better than that…

Wikipedia: “A free, online open-source encyclopedia that is used by pseudo-intellectual pimply obese 16 year olds who try to use its content as fact on NBC Sports message boards to prove their point.

        That is all.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 4:41 PM

davebabychreturns, are you going to let Ralphie dispute the fact that the Qin Dynasty buried their intellectual opponents?

    • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:04 PM

If you’re gonna compare the Bruins to the Band of Brothers and the Canucks to Nazis, I might as well grab some popcorn and enjoy the show:

  2. warpstonebc - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:45 AM

LOL, great piece and photo sourcing Brough.

Getting your picture taken with the Stanley Cup = Priceless.

Getting your picture taken with the Stanley Cup while holding a little yip-yip dog or puppy = Emasculating

  3. cannonblast14 - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:57 AM

If the team you call wins the Stanley Cup and you get a ring, you have the right to be bias. Its really not much of a story here. Canucks media was immature to rip them off, and it didnt need a response.
O well, next Vancouver-Boston game should be fun…o wait

    • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:24 PM

      Nobody knows what happened.

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t bet money on it having been done by anyone not in the Canucks general entourage (team, staff, media, hangers on) – but assuming we all know who did it and building it into the cliche-ridden storyline between these two teams is intellectually lazy.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:27 PM

The blogger probably just rewrote an earlier article from wikipedia.

        Now that’s lazy!

      • elvispocomo - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:45 PM

There have been a lot of ‘intellectually lazy’ comments going around since Saturday…

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:53 PM

Jack Edwards: “The Canucks are bigger book burners than the Nazis, Romans, Spanish and Chinese”
Prohockeytalk: “Jack Edwards and the Bruins are heroes on par with the Band of Brothers”
davebabychreturns: “The Boston media would never compare the Canucks to Nazis… how dare you suggest such nonsense!”

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome

    • elvispocomo - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:06 PM

“Not much of a story here.” That’s what everyone else thought but he figures he should run with it. Granted it’s only twitter, but he even felt it was worth more than 140 characters!

Can we be done with this now?

  4. takingbovadasmoney - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:04 PM

the dudes twitter pic is with the cup while he is holding his dog. nuff said. anyone say sandusky?

  5. oscojoe - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:04 PM

Look on the bright side Canuck Fan’s in your fantasy world you win the Cup and the picture would be John Shorthouse holding a Pussy Cat. Come to think about it you should drop the “Canuck” Name & Logo for the “Pussy Cat”.

    • mgp1219 - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:56 PM

      hey oscojoe,
Forget “Pussy Cats”. They actually deserve to be called the Cannots.

  6. icelovinbrotha215 - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:09 PM

Why is a commentator chirping hockey players? You aren’t part of the team. Nor could you defend yourselves if one of those hockey players actually took exception to someone who has no bearing on the actual games played between the Canucks and Bruins.

    • mgp1219 - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:59 PM

except if it were Burrows, LaPierrs, Bieksa, Sedin, Sedin….

  7. habsman - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:09 PM

Wow, look at the “chickletts” on that dude. Don’t you guys have dentists in Boston?

    • theironsheik - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:17 PM

      Nah, just the cup

  8. mydadyourmom - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:20 PM

His teeth match the Bruins colours. What a loser this guy looks like. Jeebus.

  9. soxpatsbscelts - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:23 PM

I’ll take jack and the cup all day. Canucks are a bunch of fairies. We proved that last year.

    • haterzgonahate - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:20 PM

took you 7 games to beat the “fairies”

but please.. carry on with the “my dag is bigger than your dag” chowder head personality, what else could we expect from Boston.

  10. drewsylvania - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:29 PM

Bruins fan here. Why should we listen to anything Jack has to say? He’s an embarrassment.

    • bigtganks - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:00 PM

Wow Drew, for once we agree :) I agree, I’d be just as embrassed if Canucks had won the cup and John Shorthouse or John Garrett was chirping. (even more embarrassed if he had a picture of it with his frickin yap yap dog too).

    • elvispocomo - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:11 PM

I… I… actually agree with you. That was hard to say, but I do. Not that I know much about Jack (sounds like you guys have him and we have Tony Gallagher) but it’s really time to let it go I think.

  11. bigtganks - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:53 PM

    Jack Edwards….

  12. bigtganks - Jan 12, 2012 at 12:54 PM

Like I said. Bruins are the biggest SORE WINNERS ever. You guys WON THE CUP! Why are you talking?!? YOU WON! What more do you want?!

    • mgp1219 - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:04 PM

Bruins fans are talking brcause Vancouver fans, players, coaches, front office, etc…keep saying and doing stupid things because they are bitter about getting beaten (in every sense of the word) by the Bruins last June. So what we want is for you and all Cannots fans and organization members to shut up and accept your defeat quietly.

      Thank you.

      • elvispocomo - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:14 PM

There would be a lot less to talk about if ole Jack there would let it go, not to mention Marchand ratting on Thornton in DJ Bean’s blog yesterday. I know I’m done with it.

You guys won the cup last year, we won the game on Saturday. Whatever the circumstances, those are the results.

      • bigtganks - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:24 PM

Who keeps commenting? Since AV’s last comments, we have, Marchand yapping, Chiarelli yapping, Chiarelli yapping again, Thorton’s yap, and now the fricking play by play guy Jack Edwards (holding his yap yap no less).

        LET IT GO…

      • bigtganks - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:18 PM

“So what we want is for you and all Cannots fans and organization members to shut up and accept your defeat quietly.”

I guess that’s why the Bruins et al won’t shut up. Because Van won 4-3 with a backup in your building. Last years cup was just that. Last year. Insecure much?

      • haterzgonahate - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:22 PM

every team chirps… but the media is only lining up to record two of them and broadcast it.. can you guess which two teams??

        most people get that..

  13. nhlbruins90 - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:05 PM

If they hate you that much Jack, you must be doing something right. Give ‘em hell, they’re green with envy.

    • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 4:08 PM

That’s the most logical statement I’ve heard all day.

  14. nolanorth - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:13 PM

    @drewsylvania

Glad to see both sides comments are maturing a bit.

    A bit isn’t much but it’s a start.

    • elvispocomo - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:24 PM

Yup, if anyone wants to talk facts, I’m happy to do so, but all the name calling and mudslinging has only escalated because some fans can’t even take a constructive criticism so they resort to the basest of arguments. Let’s see if we can get people to agree this has just become stupid.

  15. habsman - Jan 12, 2012 at 1:55 PM

Its becoming apparent that the majority of the Bruin fan base are decendents of the mountains of W. Virginia. You know, banjo’s, pretty mouths, etc; Deliverence kind of stuff. Look at that guys face, he looks like Mr. Ed except the horse had better dental hygine. Keep spinning your cheap shot, sucker punching team. But the rest of the league is on to you now. Even daddy Colie can’t cover for you now. Congrats on the Campbell Cp.

    • bobwsc - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:10 PM

most are of western European descent. nice try dipshit.

      • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:23 PM

So are hillbillies, not that it makes habsman’s comment any less ridiculous (or indicative of that commenters own prejudices)..

      • bobwsc - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:28 PM

how can you say who/where hilbillies descended from when the term is basically a dig and not an actual representation of a group of people?

      • davebabychreturns - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:37 PM

Sorry, I was using “hillbillies” as a general shorthand for the group habsman identified – I didn’t think I’d have to say “descendents of the mountains of W. Virginia” to make my point.

(As an aside, maybe habsman meant Bruins fans are literally descended from mountains? Probably not.)

Anyway – generally speaking the people of Western Virginia are white people who emigrated to the US prior to the 20th Century (ie. they came when the vast, vast majority of immigrants to the US were “Western European”), no? That’s all I am saying.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:45 PM

What other derogatory names do you use for other ethnic groups Mr. Holocaust-denier?

      • habsman - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:56 PM

        @babych,

I’m not above a bit of trolling as you can obviously see. However, “hillbillies”, your word not mine.

BTW, how’s Keith Magnuson doing these days?

    • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:38 PM

Actually, the Canucks won the Campbell Cup.

The Bruins won the Prince of Wales trophy.

      • habsman - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM

Different Campbell Cup. Colie and Gregory, not Clarence.

      • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:10 PM

        Oh “protective” cup… got it

    • wethog66 - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:46 PM

Bruins fans probably are decendants of “the mountains of W. Virginia”, but at least they don’t throw hissy fits and stage protests when their coach doesn’t speak Appalachia.

On second thought, isn’t it against the rules of “Habs Nation” for you to be posting on this message board in a language other than Le Francais?

Habs Fans, where intolerance is alive and well.

  16. kitshky - Jan 12, 2012 at 2:54 PM

This has by far been the worst collection of comments related to Bruins v Canucks … and that’s saying a lot on these pages.

    • solador78 - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:09 PM

      You shouldn’t feed the trolls.

  17. bigtganks - Jan 12, 2012 at 3:06 PM

    Dear Jack Edwards…

  18. theagitator1691 - Jan 12, 2012 at 7:59 PM

Wow thats a great picture of Jack Edwards and his wife

  19. danphipps01 - Jan 12, 2012 at 9:04 PM

Hmmm? How did the Bruins become Nazis again? I’m sorry, I’m just not following the logic. A little too mired in “crazy” for me to keep up with.

    • solador78 - Jan 13, 2012 at 1:53 PM

      Nobody called anybody Nazis.

Jack Edwards simply ranked the biggest book burners in history:

      1) The Canucks
      2) The Nazis
      3) The Romans
      4) The Spaniards

      • blomfeld - Jan 13, 2012 at 11:05 PM

yes ! … and the most vicious barbarians in history are irrefutably the :

        1) Canucks Nation circa 2010
        2) Vikings circa 500 AD
        3) Crusaders circa 950 AD
        4) SS Totenkopf Division (ie: Death’s Head Division) circa 1943

  20. tmjm621 - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:30 PM

Fought, bled, cheapshotted, almost killed otherplayers, got away with things because ne of the players daddys was in office……whilejack edwards and his downriht horrible overly biased play calling was on the games. Yeah…..screw the bruins. Cup or not i hate em. But i gotta admit, vancouvers a bunch of whining weak wussies soo…yeah

  21. blomfeld - Jan 13, 2012 at 12:57 AM

    Achtung Solador78 und Davebabychreturns !

thank you both for your entertaining exchange above … in keeping with your historical tack, it could be argued that if the Canucks were Napoleon and his French Imperial Arny last June, then the Bruins were Wellington and his combined Anglo-Prussian forces, there at the Battle of Waterloo back in 1815 … as you know, Napoleon “met his match” back then, as did the Canucks this past June 15th ! :)

It’s pretty sad just how desperate that the Bruins and their fans are to talk shit about the Canucks. I mean, the fact that this is even a news story is just mind boggling. You guys know you won the cup right? Why on earth are you so desperate to find new and increasingly ridiculous reasons to criticize Vancouver? Are you seriously that insecure?

    • blomfeld - Jan 13, 2012 at 2:13 AM

      SHUT UP !

we’re going to set you on fire and then we’re going to swarm you .. and then we’re going to tip your car upside down … and last but not least, we’re going to offer you this video of “Elaine” giving a pep talk to the boys …
