@1943mrmojorisin1971- the logical explaination for that is the leafs beat the top 3 teams in the league and they were very tough games physically and mentally, then they played the panthers likely either back to back or a day later and they were dead tired from playing and beating the top 3 teams in the league. #boom

One year the Habs, Sens, and Wings were the top 3 teams in the league. The Leafs played them plus the Panthers one week. They beat the big 3 but lost 8-0 to the Panthers. Some things just have no logical explanation.

I'd tend to agree. Also, for whatever reason, it seems lousy teams often find another gear against formidable opponents. As a Leafs fan I've witnessed that phenomenon for years.

I wouldn't call it proof per say.....hope? Sure

Also the Wings have played 3 road games in the past 4 days, so I'm going to cut them some slack tonight.

This game featured what I am calling The John Tavares Hat Trick (apologies to Gordie). He was hit in the face with a puck (had to briefly leave the game), came back and scored a goal and an assist all in the same period.

Now all the Isles have to do is go on a roll, make the playoffs, get through the first three rounds, and hope that the Wings make the Finals as well.

Seriously though, this is proof that the Isles can be better. When they leave it all on the ice, they are capable of beating anyone. It just doesn't happen too often is all. Do they need a new coach or is this just a case of The Room having to suck it up and perform?
