Nash is not exactly young, and therefore they would probably not get what they wanted. Besides except for Couture the Sharks don't have any good young forwards. And Couture is not available imo. But knowing our dumb general manager he will probably do something stupid like trade away a 30 goal scorer for an oft injured 20 goal scorer.

But really Nash cannot fit in with the Sharks, because we are looking for passive players who don't hit and give that all shucks look come playoff time. If a player is physical San Jose does not want him.

Normally, a fan would excited about this news. A hopeless franchise getting picks and players in return for it's lone star - a new start and a bright future. However, this the Jackets, so no hope exists. The best player will be gone, the picks squandered, and the young players poisoned by a putrid team with the worse management in the NHL. Go, Rick, go. Enjoy life on a team that isn't run by the owner's stockbroker. Know, that we, the fans, wish we were going with you. And understand, NHL and Gary Bettman - if you allow this, you have killed this team for the next ten years. You can't let a superstar go unless there's a responsible, competent adult running the show to reap the benefits. Columbus has proven there is NOT. Many fans thought it could not get worse than this. Wait. With Rick gone, it most certainly will. Thus, the franchise crumbles and another team is forced to move. I feel pity for the Canadian or Pacific Northwest team that takes on this train-wreck. Trust me, if McConnell still owns the team and Priest is still running the show, you will regret any deal you make with the Jackets and you will have an empty arena far sooner than you ever imagined possible.

Hey guys, a player saying "I wouldn't stand in the way of a trade" is a long way off from "I want to be traded" which is an even further distance away from the team actually wanting to trade said player.

All of these scenarios are still within the ballpark of reality though, unlike most of the trade proposals in this thread. Lupul and Aulie? Columbus going into a major rebuild only to trade away a certain lottery pick for Joe Thornton (UFA in two years) a third liner and a backup goaltender? Give me a break guys.

All that being said.. I find Rick Nash to be a pretty overrated player one 40 goal season and no 80 point seasons, and maybe it's just a product of his system (ie. the coach gives his star player free reign to go out and create offense) but he doesn't seem like a very diligent two-way player either.

Don't get me wrong he's a supremely talented player.. but maybe not a $7.8m guy.

As a Jackets fan, and a bigger Nash fan, as sad as I would he to see him go, I almost want the guy to go to a contender to see him have a true chance at a cup..cause face it..unless Cbus does something major in the next few years, he isn't gong to even get to sniff a cup here. He is too good a player to be stuck here wth absolutely no hope on the horizon...well there may be a small flicker if our new 'advisor' actually gets to advise and people actually listen.
